The Inn on the Lake has done it again…

Inn on the Lake retains four stars and two rosettes

We are happy to announce that a recent AA inspection at the Inn on the Lake has gone exceptionally well, with the hotel retaining it’s four silver star hotel rating and two AA rosettes with an impressive AA merit score of 83%. 2016 marks the fourth year in a row that the Inn on the Lake has received this accolade from the AA.

The AA Hotel Guide defines the silver star category as: Highly recommended hotels offering a superior level of quality within their star rating, high standards of hotel keeping in particular hospitality, service and cleanliness and hold an AA Rosette award for the quality of their food.

Set in 15 acres of grounds with lawns sweeping to the shores of Lake Ullswater, the Inn on the Lake enjoys one of the most spectacular settings in the Lake District. With 47 en-suite bedrooms, most of these offer lake views across Ullswater or towards the magnificent Helvellyn mountain range. With a variety of dining options, from Lake View lounges and Lake View restaurant to the unique Orangery or brand NEW Candleroom, it is no wonder people return time and again.

The two AA Rosette award is a testament to the Inn on the Lake’s team of chefs, headed by head chef Mark Harris, and the front of house staff, who work very well together to offer guests the perfect dining experience.

The AA inspector dined on the pressed lakes chicken & mushroom, golden raisins, mushroom ketchup & quail eggs to start, followed by the roasted honey & Szechuan pepper duck, English carrots, duck spring roll & potato dauphinoise, and the Black Forrest, dark chocolate, cherry & date sponge for dessert.

After which he commented, “the duck was cooked pink & was wonderfully tender. The natural flavours of the duck were clearly evident & had not been over powered with the other named flavours in this dish.” The inspector also stated that we have a friendly team, who show a willingness to engage with the guests and who show great customer care awareness.

General Manager Gary Wilson commented, “We pride ourselves on the top quality and service that we offer and we’re very happy that this has been endorsed by our four star and two rosette rating from the AA”.

“A huge thanks goes out to all the staff who have worked hard to maintain the high standards of hospitality and the consistent quality that they produce on a daily basis. The recent refurbishment of Ramblers Bar and the new extension of the Candleroom has also had a big impact, by offering credible dining alternatives to the main restaurant and the Orangery”.
