Becy & Joe’s Wedding Day at the Inn on the Lake

At the Inn on the Lake we take great pride in looking after each and every wedding, we thoroughly enjoy every minute, and we also love to hear from you after the big day has been and gone. We  have just had the pleasure of chatting to Becy & Joe, who held their special day with us on 3rd December 2016. Here’s a sneak peek into the story of Becy & Joe…

The happy couple first visited the Inn on the Lake back in November 2015, in their search for the perfect wedding venue. After viewing many venues around the Lake District a friend suggested they should try the Inn on the Lake, from arriving at the hotel, they were instantly blown away and left speechless by the beautiful Christmas decorations and the warm, welcome that they received. From here the decision had already been made…

HOW THEY MET

Becy & Joe first met in Liverpool, back in 2008, where they were both studying. They were regular visitors to their favourite bar Heebie Jeebies and started dating soon after.

PROPOSAL

After 7 years of dating Joe was secretly planning to propose; he took Becy for a romantic break to the Lake District and wanted to pop the question on a walk around Easedale Tarn. Becy was over the moon when they got to the tarn and Joe dropped down on one knee, she said ‘It was rainy but PERFECT’.

VENUE

After saying ‘I Do’ at St. Patricks Church in Patterdale, just a mile from the hotel, the wedding party continued the celebrations at the Inn on the Lake, a wonderful day was had by all, the weather was kind and lots of happy memories were made with a magical Christmas atmosphere in the air.

THEME

After visiting the Inn on the Lake during the festive season, the decision was made to have a Christmas wedding! The happy couple described the Inn on the Lake as ‘magical’ and loved the fact that they didn’t need to put too much thought into a theme. They opted for a quality street purple and sparkly gold for the colour theme and kept the decorations simple using ivy and fairy lights to finish off the already beautiful Christmas decorations.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT

With the help of Becy’s Mum, sister and the lovely ladies at ‘I Do Bridal Boutique’ in Cockermouth, Becy picked a dress and veil by Maggie Sottero, with a vintage brooch in her hair and sparkly gold and purple Irregular Choice heels.

HAIR & BEAUTY

Jaye Adams for make up and Katie Simpson for hair.

GROOMSMEN

The best man was Jamie Logie (Joe’s best friend), the groomsmen were Vinny and Danny White, along with Becy’s brother Luke Howley and Joe’s cousin David Gallagher.

BRIDESMAIDS

The maid of Honour was Becy’s little sister Cassie Howley, the bridesmaids were Joe’s sister Anne-Marie White and Becy’s best friend Megs Barber.

RINGS

Engagement and wedding ring are both from Vera Wang.

FLOWERS

Laura Tuer at Greenwheat Flowers, Penrith created the beautiful bouquet, the groomsmen’s pins and 3 bridesmaids bouquets.

TRANSPORT

Becy’s Uncle Eamonn acted as Chauffeur for the day, using his fabulous Jaguar for the wedding car, he went all out and bought a chauffeurs uniform including hat for the occasion.

TABLE SETTINGS

Fresh ivy and fairy lights were entwined around the candelabras on the centre of each table, which stood on mirror plates with added tea lights. The table plan was ‘Becy and Joe’s Love Story’ and the table names were written on wooden hearts and hung on the candelabras. White chocolate Lindor balls and Ferrero Rocher were scattered on each table, making it a chocoholics dream.

FAVOURS

Each guest received an individually packaged Krispy Kreme donut- which are Joe’s favourite!

CATERING

Delicious canapés were enjoyed by all, followed by a beautiful wedding breakfast for 103 guests, prepared by the Inn on the Lake’s head chef and his team! The dining options included; smoked chicken Caesar salad as a starter, beef dinner for the main and sticky toffee pudding for dessert! In the evening hog roast sandwiches were served in the Candleroom and Rambler’s Bar for 145 guests.

CAKE

Maria Pilkington, a good friend to Becy made a beautiful vintage inspired wedding cake, with 4 tiers and butter icing, the sponge layers were chocolate, lemon, orange and vanilla. The cake was decorated with purple, iced flowers and fresh ivy and placed on a wooden stand, with fairy lights around the base.

PHOTOGRAPHER

The very talented Jason Chambers.

FIRST DANCE

The first dance was to Haley Reinhart’s version of ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love With You’

ENTERTAINMENT

Joe’s brother’s band ‘Shed Session’s’ performed at the evening reception, they were fab and got everyone on the dance floor! On top of this guests could entertain themselves with ‘Selfie Mirror’ which was hired from from Chris Hillman, and Joe’s Mum, Sandra sourced fresh cookies for the yummy cookie bar, which went down a treat!

The very talented Ruby Macintosh performed an acoustic set during our drinks reception.

The lovely Kate Threlfall performed ‘It Feels Like Home’ as myself and my father walked down the aisle and ‘Make You Feel My Love’ in memory of Joe’s father and ‘Grow Old with Me’ during the signing of the registrar.
