The Lodore Falls Christmas Light Switch On

The Lodore Falls Christmas Light Switch On

For the last 7 years pupils from the Borrowdale School have taken part in a ‘design a Christmas card competition’ which is then judged by staff from the Lodore Falls Hotel and a lucky winner from each age category gets to help us switch on our Christmas lights.

The light switch on took place on Thursday 10th November, the children and parents were all invited to the Lodore prior to the light switch on for mulled wine (juice for the children) and mince pies. The children’s Christmas card designs were on display for all to see, before the lucky winners were announced.

The winners:
Mark Karolyi-Horvath, Archie Graham, Laura Jane Donoghue Weir and Oscar Pye Kendall

Every year it’s been such a fun evening for all of the children, their family and not to mention the teachers from the school. Mrs Crossley, teacher at the school said “Borrowdale School are exceptionally grateful to the Lodore Falls for asking the children to switch on the lights. The manager; Matt sees this as an important community partnership which has thrived for many years. The four winners were very excited to push the plunger which instantly illuminated the hotel.”

The switch on officially marks the start of the festive season at the Lodore Falls and it’s great to see many locals joining us. Our festive menus are launched and hotel decorations are up, this year the decorations are themed around our annual Christmas event – the Nutcracker Ballet performance, which is taking place on Sunday 20th November and Sunday 4th December.
