Battle to WIN the Inaugural ‘Kitchen Rivals’ Charity Banquet

Kitchen Rivals Charity Event at the Lodore Falls Hotel

TWO companies will sharpen their knives and polish the silver as they take on one of the most hotly contested dining challenges in Cumbria on Thursday 28 January 2016.

We have partnered up with Cumbrian business law firm Baines Wilson LLP and Barclays to take up the knife and fork challenge in ‘Kitchen Rivals,’ a black tie event at the Lodore Falls Hotel, on the shore of Derwentwater.

Baines Wilson LLP and Barclays will go head to head in a culinary challenge at the Lodore Falls Hotel to raise money for three local charities, Cumbria Community Foundation Flood Appeal, the Calvert Trust and Amy’s Care.

Teams of eight from Baines Wilson and Barclays will be in the kitchen and front of house, in a contest to impress 90 guests.  They’ll be guided by the Lodore Falls Hotel’s expert chefs and front of house staff, to ensure all guests have an enjoyable experience with the best food and service.

Throughout the evening the guests will judge the two teams at work via a live stream shown in the Garden Suite.  The winning team will be declared once everyone has scored their team’s performance, based on various elements of the evening.

At the end of the evening, guests will be invited to pay for their experience based on what they feel the meal and service is worth.  This, along with funds raised from the raffle and auction, will be matched by Barclays and split three ways between the local charities.

Joanne Holborn, Employment Partner at Baines Wilson LLP said: “Given the recent devastating flooding throughout the region we feel that now, more than ever, is a vital time to be fundraising for Cumbria and we hope this will be a very successful event.”

Dani Hope, Marketing Director of Lake District Hotels commented, “It’s a real pleasure to work with Baines Wilson and Barclays on this fantastic charity event and we are thrilled that Lodore Falls Hotel yet again are playing host to another prestigious event. Between the three of us we have close relationships with local businesses and have managed to offer some fantastic raffle and auction prizes. Up for auction is a tour of Emmerdale Farm, which will be with one of the actors from the TV Soap, a tour of the M-Sport workshop for 10 people, a photography day with award-winning photographer Mark Littlejohn and much more. We’re hoping the event will raise over £5,000 for these three deserving causes.”

Russell Young, Director Corporate Banking for Barclays said “At Barclays we are committed to supporting our local communities. The community spirit I have witnessed across Cumbria has been truly inspiring. It’s a pleasure to be part of an event that will raise funds to support the rebuilding of our region.”

Prizes for the raffle and auction have been generously donated by: The Borrowdale Hotel, Brossen Steakhouse, Baines Wilson LLP, Lake District Wildlife Park, Caterite, Bedrock Gin, Honister Slate Mine, King Kong Climbing Centre, The Lakes Distillery, Award-winning photographer Mark Littlejohn, M-Sport, Hawkshead Relish, Lakeland, Matfen Hall, Holker, Grasmere Gingerbread, Keswick Mountain Festival, Border Cars, Windermere Lake Cruises, Penrith Building Society, J F & E Hadwins Limited, Risedale Estates, Fotovue Ltd, Theatre by the Lake, Berghaus and Emmerdale.
