Borrowdale School lights up the Lodore Falls Hotel

Lodore Falls Hotel Christmas Light Switch On

The annual Christmas light switch on at the Lodore Falls Hotel officially marks the start of the festive season, with Christmas lunches, dinners and festive afternoon tea’s on the menu. The light switch on took place at the hotel on Thursday 19th November, where teachers and pupils from the local Borrowdale School came to attend the event.

Each year the Borrowdale School holds a ‘Design a Christmas card competition’ which allows the pupils the opportunity to get involved and offers the competition winners the chance to turn the lights on. There were two competition winners, a Key Stage 1 winner and Key Stage 2 winner, both received a chocolate selection box and the chance to turn on the lights.

Mrs Crossley, Key Stage One Teacher at the school said “This is a historical competition we’ve always done, for someone to switch the Christmas lights on is very exciting! Key Stage One pupils based their Christmas cards on a Winter Wonderland, whilst Key Stage Two took inspiration from Hundertwasser, an Austrian artist and architect. The pupils really enjoyed themselves as did the parents and teachers, especially with the supply of mince pies and mulled wine!”

The next family orientated Christmas event at the Lodore Falls hotel is the ‘Coppelia’ Ballet performance on Sunday 22nd November – there are only a few tickets left. For more information or to book, contact Lynsey Clark on 017687 77285 or email sales.lodorefalls@lakedistricthotels.net
