Love in the Lakes…Emma and Nick marry under blue skies against the backdrop of their beloved Lake District

The General Manager and his team at the Inn on the Lake take great pride in looking after weddings, and they feel richly rewarded when they see happy smiles from the wedding couple and their families and friends. We’d like to share with you a tale from Emma & Nick’s wedding day, which took place on a special day at the Inn, as it fell on the grand opening of our new venue, The Candleroom.

From picnics to proposals… Having been together since July 2013, Nick had planned to propose to Emma at their special place in the Lakes; the Inn on the Lake, on Ullswater. The couple had spent many happy times here enjoying picnics on the grass, taking in the stunning scenery, talking about their future plans together. It seemed the perfect place to pop the question, but with the unpredictability of the Cumbrian weather, the proposal wasn’t to be, until 3 months later, when Nick proposed to Emma whilst visiting Scotland.

Making dreams come true… The Inn on the Lake was the dream location for Nick and Emma, the hotel is set in 15 acres of landscaped grounds sweeping down to the shores of Ullswater. Nick commented, “This is one of the finest venues in the world, but what sets it apart, is that you are made to feel welcome from the very first moment you meet the team at the Inn on the Lake. I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone at the Inn on the Lake for making our dreams come true.”

Brand new wedding venue… On the 27^th May 2016, the Inn on the Lake opened a brand new venue; The Candleroom. An impressive 80 seater oak beamed room with a stunning glass front, which offers views to the fells and beyond. Along with an eclectic mix of modern and traditional furnishing with beautifully coordinated fabrics, large designer pendants together with dramatic church candle lights hanging from the beams, really sets the atmosphere.

The run up to the wedding… Nick and Emma were the first couple to hold their evening celebrations in this new venue, with their wedding date falling on the same day that the venue was due to open. Nick commented, “We were extremely fortunate to be the first bride and groom to celebrate our evening reception in the Candleroom. During a very anxious run up to the wedding, we began to worry that we wouldn’t get the evening reception of our dreams, due to building delays. Thankfully, the Inn on the Lake pulled out all the stops to make one very happy bride and groom. We couldn’t have wished for a better venue to dance the night away.”
