The Borrowdale Hotel has just recently accommodated a group of staff members from City West Housing Trust (now a ForViva group member), as 16 of them took part in the challenge of a lifetime, to run 130 miles in 5 days around 10 of the main lakes in the Lake District.
The 130 miles covered the following areas;
Day 1 – The official Windermere marathon
Day 2 – Derwentwater & Bassenthwaite
Day 3 – Ullswater & Haweswater
Day 4 – Buttermere, Crummock & Loweswater
Day 5 – Thirlmere & Coniston
The group started out as a corporate challenge; team members then committed to raise money for the organisation’s annual spotlight charity, The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, with an aim to raise £1,500. The 4 star Borrowdale Hotel is nestled at the foot of Shepherds Crag in the pretty Borrowdale valley, making it the perfect base for the group to take on this amazing challenge. For five nights the group rested once back at the hotel and prepared themselves for the next day ahead of them.
Lisa Scully, Director of Business Transformation at ForViva who took part in the challenge, commented “No amount of training could prepare us for this grueling challenge but knowing each step was helping towards raising funds for our staff-nominated charity of the year kept us going and we’re thrilled to have smashed our target.
