Maryport Roman Festival
Discover how Roman soldiers defended this spectacular coastline from their hill top fort as you prepare to enter Hadrian’s Wall Country.
Events and activities for all the family, bringing history to life. Explore the Roman fort and milefortlets with volunteer Hadrian’s Wall guides. Gaius, the Roman potter, will show how to make your very own goddess and there will be tasting sessions of Roman food. The Comitatus Roman cavalry will be making a welcome return visit and there will be opportunities for children to train with Victor the Centurion and make friends with a Roman cavalry pony.
Usual museum admission applies with the exception of the Roman food demonstration with John Crouch (£10) and the Roman films (free). Read on for details of events and calendar of dates.
