On Sunday (11th December) we put the general public’s taste-buds to the test, as they joined us on market square to sample not one, not two but seven different mulled wines at our festive competition. Each of our seven hotels prepared a different mulled wine recipe, which Mrs Santa and her little elf kindly dished out to locals and visitors, offering the perfect excuse to enjoy a good mulled wine and getting everyone into the festive spirit.

The aim of the competition was to pick a winning recipe, which will then be used throughout the 2017 festive season across all seven of our hotels; Inn on the Lake, Lodore Falls, the Borrowdale Hotel, Inn on the Square, the Skiddaw Hotel, the George Hotel and the Kings Arms Hotel.

The mulled wine competition was part of the Keswick Live Advent Calendar, which see’s a different event take place every day in the lead up to Christmas. There was no charge to enter and if that was not enough when guests cast their vote, they automatically entered into our festive competition to win an afternoon tea for 2 at one of our hotels. The lucky winner goes to Robert Carter from Keswick.

The results are in…

We have collected all the votes from all you mulled wine connoisseurs and the results are in. We are pleased to announce that the winning recipe is from the Skiddaw Hotel and will be our official recipe for Mulled Wine for 2017. So next year you can try your favourite as many times as you like at any of our seven Lake District Hotels.
