At the Inn on the Lake, we love each and every wedding that takes place with us, it’s a lovely feeling to be part of your special day. Earlier this year we were privileged to witness Amanda and Chrissi’s big day on the 12th March, and we’d like to share their story with you.
Why go abroad, when you can visit the Lake District? You’ll be spoilt for choice for something to do here, from outdoor activities like paddle-boarding on the lake, Honister’s Via Ferrata, to getting out and about on the 214 Wainwright fells. On top of that there’s copious amounts of indoor fun to be had, from ice climbing at Kong Adventure, to watching show after show at the fabulous Theatre by the Lake. With so many things to see and do, we’ve picked our top 5 favourite things to inspire you.
Wimbledon is almost upon us, and The Borrowdale Hotel have come up with a Wimbledon afternoon tea to kick start the oldest tennis tournament in the world. Served on a table cloth of artificial grass, the afternoon tea includes themed items, such as; Pimm’s jelly, lashings of strawberries and cream, a homemade pistachio mousse for the tennis ball, and homemade shortbread biscuits the shape of tennis rackets.
Yesterday, the Inn on the Lake played host to a fabulous Royal Ascot Ladies Race Day (Thursday 22nd June), all in aid of our charity of the year, Blood Bikes Cumbria. This is our fourth consecutive year for holding this event, and each year just gets more and more glamorous.
Last night saw our 4th Summer Solstice guided walk, each year we celebrate this special occasion by offering locals and visitors to the area, the chance to join our guided Solstice walk to experience the Lake District in a completely new light. Providing a unique two-night dinner, bed & breakfast stay, which includes a guided walk to the Castlerigg Stone Circle, followed by a hot breakfast and a Druid Ceremony that is open to all faiths, conducted by OBOD member and practising Druid, Gillian Kavanagh.
We have just had the pleasure of accommodating 90 guests from the International Car Club of Rolls Royce and Bentley Enthusiasts at the Inn on the Lake, on the shores of Ullswater, with over 50 fabulous cars. The visit was part of their 18-day Round Britain Tour 2017 across England, Wales and Scotland, organised by The Silver Ghost Register.
We are honoured to be able to support the Proms in the Park event, which is part of Keswick Midsummer Festival, taking place in Fitz Park, Keswick on Saturday 24th June.
