How we celebrated 35 years ago – the Queen’s Silver Jubilee…
Street Parties in 1977 for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. Thirty five years ago the Queen celebrated her Silver Jubilee. Over a million people lined the streets of London, thousands having camped out over night in the rain, millions more tuned into watch the events on TV and many celebrated with street parties. In true patriotic spirit the Union Jacks were flying like a sea of red, white and blue!
Head Chef, Mike Ward, at the Lodore Falls, was lucky enough to find the menu which was served at the hotel on the day of the Silver Jubilee celebration. We found it really interesting to see what was served all those years ago and how it compares to this year’s celebratory lunch:
Royal Highland Game Terrine with Cumberland Sauce
~
Real Turtle Soup with Sherry Cheddar Straws
~
Poached Salmon Trout with Cucumber and Lovage Sauce
~
Lodore Jubilee Platter
Assortment of Fresh Vegetables
Minted New Potatoes
Watercress and Egg Salad

Apple and Raspberry Syllabub

Mushrooms on Toast in Whisky and Cream Sauce
