Swan Lake ballet returns to the Lodore Falls Hotel

Christmas Celebrations at the Lodore Falls Hotel

Back by popular demand, the magical Swan Lake Ballet will once again herald the start of the Christmas events at the Lodore Falls Hotel, with over 30 talented young dancers from the Starkey School of Theatre Dance in Whitehaven performing the classic Swan Lake ballet.

The shortened version of the ballet will be followed by a themed afternoon tea, served in the award winning AA rosette Lake View restaurant, where guests can relax and enjoy the Winter Wonderland decorations and the stunning views across Derwentwater. This will be the 5th year that the school has performed at the Lodore Falls Hotel, with the first three year’s performance the ‘Nutcracker’ and the following year ‘Swan Lake’, the cast of 32 are aged between 9 – 24 and there will be numerous costume changes.

Karen Starkey, Director of the production said “The Lodore is the perfect location for this Christmas tale and it is great fun to stage. The original Swan Lake ballet performance is three and a half hours, so there is a great deal of work involved to build the performance into one hour. It’s a major task so it seemed appropriate to run the same performance for a second year. It is a popular performance and I know that Stephen Johnston the General Manager of the Lodore Falls is a big fan of the Swan Lake ballet and is very happy to have us back this year”

The ballet performances at the Lodore Falls Hotel are due to take place on November 23rd and December 7th, with the Children’s pantomime Cinderella being held on December 21st. For more information contact Donna Walker on 017687 77285 or visit www.lakedistricthotels.net/lodorefalls
