Whitehaven Festival competition winners at Skiddaw Hotel

Bruce and Collette Goodwin from Lancashire won a weekend break at the Skiddaw Hotel by entering a competition in Lancashire Magazine. They decided to co-incide their visit with the Whitehaven Festival and stayed at the hotel this weekend.

Collette said “it is 25 years since I was last in Keswick so we were thrilled to win. The hotel has been very accommodating, the room has plenty of grab rails for Bruce and the staff are very friendly and very helpful. We treated ourselves to a very good breakfast in bed both mornings and the town centre location is perfect. It means it’s easy to explore Keswick before we head home.”

After visiting the Whitehaven Festival on Saturday, they particularly enjoyed the jet skis. On Sunday they explored the feast of food and drink before returning to the Skiddaw Hotel for dinner. Monday they looked around Keswick before leaving.

Cheers for Beer Festivals

What a fantastic weekend we had for the Beer Festival. This was the 15th Beer festival and there were around 6,000 visitors over two days. It is always a popular event in the town and our local hotels were very busy. The team at the Skiddaw Hotel were kept on their toes, and with our greatest selection of beers, the Kings Arms Hotel was as expected, pulling pints and pints. A great atmosphere and the weather wasn’t bad either.
The festival iteslf is the biggest of its kind in the north with around 170 real ales, bottled beers and ciders at the event.  If you missed it – you can still quench your thirst with a host of ales at the Kings Arms Hotel or any of our Lake District Hotels.

A fantastic festive response for Christmas 2011 …

Last Christmas and New Year were very special in our hotels -snow capped fells, warm cosy fires, a festival of food and entertainment ensured our guests had a memorable break.

Indeed, they felt so at home, relaxed and pampered that many have already rebooked for Christmas and New Year 2011. That’s something we are very proud of – it means we created the right festive programme – something we are repeating this year.

So let us tempt you to the Lake District this Christmas. There’s plenty of sparkle in our festive breaks: mulled wine, mince pies, festive feasts, dancing, lake cruises and entertainers – plus our secret ingredients guaranteed to make your festive break extra special. Come and join us for the festive season, but please don’t leave it too late to book – some of our hotels genuinely have limited availability.
