Discover Wedding Day Romance by the Falls

Choosing your dream wedding venue is undoubtedly one of the biggest decisions when planning your big day. Not only should it set the scene, it must also provide a fabulous backdrop for pictures and the lifetime of memories you will treasure. Insight would therefore like to recommend our dream venue The Lodore Falls Hotel

For over 200 years, the Lodore Falls Hotel has been nestled at the heart of the Borrowdale Valley in the Lake District – officially recognised as the UK’s most romantic destination.

Perfect for pictures
There could be no finer place for a romantic break or a wedding celebration, with over 40 acres of grounds that include its very own waterfall, a pack horse bridge as well as perfectly manicured award-winning gardens and frontage to Lake Derwentwater. You could even arrive in style on the launch which calls at the jetty.

The Lodore Falls Hotel has much to offer – and with a choice of four function suites brides can have a small intimate ceremony, or a much larger, grander affair catering for up to 130 guests for the wedding and 150 guests for evening receptions. There are lounges with lake views, cosy fireside lounges and a fantastic setting for dinner in their Lake View restaurant which serves creative, locally sourced dishes.

Feature bedrooms
The 69 beautifully appointed bedrooms are designed with comfort and luxury in mind and most overlook the river, mountains or lake. You can of course have the honeymoon suite, together with a champagne breakfast to see in your first day of married life! Other feature rooms are unique in their own right – especially the pretty Tower Room, which has a 180 degree spectacular view of lake and mountains and a romantic roll top bath. It is a popular choice for newlyweds.

SPA and Beauty treatments
Relax in the Falls Health & Beauty – a beauty salon and spa with leisure facilities that make it ideal for pre wedding pampering. There are numerous treatments and packages that cater for girly pampering as well as de-stressing massages to combat any last minute nerves and stresses! And for the men, the Turkish wet shave is a must.

The ultimate experience in luxurious relaxation comes in the form of an outdoor hot tub, complete with lake views – perfect for unwinding before or after the big day itself.

Personal attention
Whatever the season, every effort will be made to ensure your big day is magical; a red carpet, toast master, magicians, bands and live entertainment, every detail can be catered for. And because your wedding breakfast is so important, the hotel’s head chef of 20 years will tailor your menu to your exact requirements.

Enjoy a Lake District break
Even if you aren’t planning a Lake District wedding, you can still enjoy the splendour of the Lodore Falls Hotel. It’s very family friendly and you can experience an array of activities during your stay, from active adventure to the simply relaxation of a romantic weekend away. One thing is for sure, the infamous afternoon tea with a glass of bubbly is not to be missed!

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIPS FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON … TIP 7

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIPS FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON -
By Christine Bibby, Salon Manager Lodore Falls Hotel

Christine Bibby Salon Manager at the Lodore Falls Hotel, has years of experience in famous Spa’s in the UK and Europe. She knows how to make you look and feel gorgeous for the festive season – after all, Christmas isn’t just about buying presents and cooking the goose, it’s about looking and feeling great too.

The Lodore Falls is an exciting place to work during the festive period.  There’s a festival of food to tempt even the most ardent calorie counter and for one year only, the hotel is ornately decorated to the theme of the Nutcracker Ballet, with ballet shoes and tutu’s dazzling the entrance and Russian dishes incorporated into the festive menu. Great fun, but not for the waistline. Don’t worry – I know some great ways to look amazing:

Tip 1 – That little black dress WILL fit
Vintage is in, so restore the LBD at the back of your wardrobe! With a £55 Contour Wrap it only takes two hours for instant inch loss. In that time you’re guaranteed to lose six inches (on average most lose 10-14) a quick way to make your LBD perfectly figure hugging. Wraps also cleanse, detoxify and compress fatty tissues, making you feel better all round and ready to party.

Tip 2 - Get the party glowing
Zesty Lime and Ginger Salt Glow at £40, is our most popular scrub; cleansing, polishing and softening the skin …. and if you have a sexy backless dress there’s nothing better than a Back Facial! (£40) Spots and dry skin are relieved with a deep cleansing mask and massage – making you feel a million dollars.

If you haven’t got time to pop to the spa, a good alternative is a honey and sugar exfoliation, add sea salt for a more intense scrub. You will need someone to help you if you want to do your back at home – but perhaps that’s part of the fun!

Tip 3 – Flutter and sparkle – high definition makeup
The right makeup will make your eyes sparkle – but keep it simple. If you concentrate on your eyes, tone down the lips. The mono pallet is back this season – silvers, greys and smoke are very flattering – and dark eye liner creates a better effect. The eye shadows and blushers we use in the salon have a glitter effect – they must be good because several top models use them all the time. If your lips are your star attraction, match them to your nails.

Tip 4 – Top to toe– a sparkly nail package.
Base and top coats for nails are really important – especially on winter toes, polish will last months. Make sure your nails are really dry – leave them two hours and don’t put your feet or hands in water for the rest of the day – a great excuse to get out of the washing up. Another secret is to apply more top coat next day – it will stay on longer. Our ‘Sparkly Nails’ package includes toes and nails (£55) and is popular at Christmas – everyone says yes to a glitter top coat!

Tip 5 – Don’t neglect your hands and feet in winter
The trick is to put oil on your hands at night and sleep with a pair of gloves on – same with your feet – moisturise and wear socks. Luxury manicures are popular in winter because hands benefit from moisturising, massage and almond oil used on cuticles, nails and skin.

Tip 6 – Men like a bit of Turkish delight
There’s no need for the man in your life to miss out. The ‘Turkish Works’ at £30 is secretly popular – both as presents and treats for the boys. They will leave the salon neat, trimmed and very tidy – having also tasted a facial and back massage – leave them wanting more!

Tip 7 – Present time
Everyone likes to be pampered so treatment vouchers are not a ‘cop out’ gift. Pamper Days from £50 and Turkish Wet Shaves from £15 are our top two presents – a fab way to make your friends feel great and so easy to buy on-line via our website.

Have a fantastic festive Christmas.
