1. Bobbing along…

The Lake District is made up of 16 beautiful lakes, so it would be rude to pay us a visit and not take advantage of all that they have to offer. You can hop on a launch, take a dip, venture out on a rowing boat and much more. Our favourite activity has to be canoeing, it’s full of fun and you can double up to share the rowing. If you are staying at the Lodore Falls Hotel, you can hire a canoe from Platty + a small friendly family run water sports centre, located on the Lodore jetty, just 30m from the hotel. You can also visit Nichol End Marine and Newlands Adventure Centre to hire canoe’s.

Did you know?

There is only one official lake in the Lake District… which is Bassenthwaite Lake, the rest are all mere’s and water’s.

2. Gentle strolls vs The Wainwrights…

We have so many great walks right from the front door, you really don’t need an excuse to don a pair of walking boots and hit the great outdoors. If you decide to walk one of the Wainwrights, don’t forget to take advantage of our FREE WALKING BOOT HIRE (a family can save up to £50) from George Fisher’s in Keswick, available to guests staying in all seven of our Lake District Hotels.

For those of you that prefer a more leisurely stroll, we have compiled a book of sixteen detailed walks and maps, all starting from our hotels. We wanted to share our favourite bits of the Lake District in these delightful walks, which offer walks by rivers and lakes, which is suitable for all abilities. Ask for details at the hotel reception.

Or take on the Via Ferrata, which takes the original miners track up the steep outer incline of Fleetwith Pike, clipped onto a continuous cable, this activity is not for the faint hearted.
