Daryl Ross, wedding co-ordinator at the Lodore Falls Hotel, is passionate about helping brides create the perfect wedding day, Daryl know’s how stressful it can get on the day itself and wanted to share a few suggestions on how to make your day extra special.
You can organise a show round at the Lodore Falls Hotel with Daryl by calling 017687 77285.
There are many reasons to choose the Lodore Falls Hotel as your wedding venue, from the beautiful food, dedicated staff and amazing local gin selection, to the incredible views every which way you look. We are so lucky to be situated in the Borrowdale Valley, which ensures we have the immense Lodore Falls behind us, Catbells in front and mountains all around. Here is our list of must have shots for your wedding, all but a stone throw away.
Ashness Bridge & Surprise View
Not surprisingly making it onto our list, these two gems are moments apart and are striking. Granted it’s a little, tiny bit of a drive to get there (approx. 15 minutes), but all made worthwhile by the stunning backdrop, rain or shine. Time it right to have a sunset silhouette, make the best of a gloomy day by including Cumbria’s persistent rainy weather or be lucky and get clear skies for your dramatic wedding pics.
The Lodore Jetty
Not only is it a great photo opportunity, but also an idea for entertaining your guests. Cruise around Derwentwater for an hour, sipping on bubbles in the summer and (boozy) hot chocolate in the colder months. Lodore can even supply some canapes for your guests to enjoy whilst looking at the impressive views. Don’t worry, there is an inside section on the launch where less brave guests can be seated!
A Gorgeous Group Shot
If you are planning on having a large guest list at your wedding and you are worried you won’t remember them all? No problem! Take a quirky group shot that will fit everyone in on the front of our hotel, against a spectacular backdrop of mountains and foliage. Our Lake view rooms on the first floor have balconies, so it’s really easy for your chosen photographer to get this fun shot. Here’s a tip, make sure you book these Lake view rooms for your *ahem* favourite guests.
The largest backdrop – Catbells!
In the field opposite us, there is the opportunity to use Catbells as an immense backdrop for your photos. Put your walking boots on and head over to the miles of grass to include the incredible mountainside in your photographs. This is especially gorgeous in Autumn, when the colours are vibrant and full of auburn’s and golds. Plus, turn around and you’ll have the captivating Lodore Falls itself. Not that you’ll need reminding where you got married, but having our name in the background of your photos is an emotional touch.
The Magnificent Lodore Falls
The only reason to wish for rain on your wedding day, or perhaps very close to it anyway! Only a short walk away, the Lodore Falls is a photo opportunity that weddings and walkers alike constantly photograph. After a particularly wet spells, the water comes cascading down huge boulders to create a breath taking image to include in your wedding check list. Even during the summer when it’s a little less full, the Lodore Falls creates a striking wedding photo.
So, next time you visit Lodore Falls Hotel, ask for help if you need directions or just go out and explore what nature has to offer!
