New Year 2011 Programme

 

30th December 2011
Arrive in time for afternoon tea and hot crumpets served in the lounges in front of the roaring fires from 3.00pm to 4.30pm. Settle into your warm and welcoming room and get ready to meet the hotel’s General Manager, his team and fellow guests for a Cocktails and Canapés Reception. Later on our head chef has prepared a wonderful dinner, which can be enjoyed in the candlelit restaurant, whilst listening to our resident musician. After dinner wrap up warm and take a short magical journey in a candlelit procession to a nearby beauty spot. Enjoy a glass of hot punch and hot roasted Chestnuts as you experience the beauty, peace and tranquillity of the Borrowdale Valley at night.

New Years Eve 2011
Prepare yourself for the forthcoming day and night’s celebrations with a hearty Cumbrian breakfast and enjoy a glass of Bucks Fizz to get you in the mood. If fresh air seems like a good idea, we would like to invite you to join us on a guided walk starting from the front door of the hotel and taking in some of the beautiful local Borrowdale Fells. After the crisp lake air you will be glad to return to the roaring fires in the hotel and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea. Soon it will be time to prepare yourself for a unique dining experience, as our Head Chef and his team have been busy during the day preparing a sumptuous Gala Dinner, which is sure to impress you. After the spectacular Gala Dinner join us in the Lounge Bar function room where our resident disco will entertain you until the wee small hours. On the stroke of Midnight we wish you all a happy New Year with a glass of Bubbly and encourage you to celebrate for a few more hours.

New Years Day 2012
There is no need to hurry down to breakfast if you have had a late night, because today we are serving our famous Brunch from 10am to 2pm. If you feel exercise is in order you may wish to visit the leisure club at our sister hotel (500 yards) and take advantage of the indoor swimming pool, gym and beauty salon (treatments are charged extra). In the afternoon a launch trip on Derwentwater has been arranged and whilst you enjoy the spectacular scenery, we will serve you a glass of hot mulled wine. Tonight a 6 course Dinner has been prepared by our chefs, after which your presence is requested in the Lounge Bar in time for our New Years Day Quiz, where your knowledge of all things trivial will be tested to the full!
