The Borrowdale Hotel is delighted to have Gabriel Fernandez, Brand Ambassador for Torres Wine, as speaker for the night.
The Torres family has been making wine in the ancient Catalán town of Vilafranca del Penedès, south-west of Barcelona, since the 17th Century. It is this tradition combined with innovation, dynamism and commitment to quality that has put the Torres firmly on the world map.
It will be a fascinating evening of matching Torres' exquisite range of wines with Head Chef Sebastien's innovative menu concepts. Priced at £49.95 per person and includes 4 courses, 5 different wines (including aperitifs).

After the recent refurbishment of the Borrowdale Hotel's restaurant, Kit and Charles Graves, the owners of the hotel, thought nothing less than a superb wine cellar to complete the dining experience.
The walk in wine cellar, with glass doors welcoming you in, beautifully displays the wine and champagne collection in rich wooden racking (created by our local joiners) and is skilfully lit to highlight key bottles. We like to use local material wherever possible but the wine tasting area is such a unique and specialised design that much of it had to be imported from USA.
Stephen Wilcock, our General Manager, is one of only 25 Master Sommeliers in Europe with such high qualifications. He has been very excited by the launch of our very own wine cellar and tasting room.
Stephen is busy preparing special wine tasting events focusing on wines around the world. Working with Head Chef they are also preparing several dining extravaganza’s to celebrate the way wine works with food.
A champagne celebration dinner last February launched the taster events. It was a packed occasion in the newly-refurbished restaurant, which included commentary from Jean Pierre Marniquet - our selected Wine Maker from the Champagne region of France who introduced different champagne with every course. Jean Pierre explained the complexities of the wine and how it compliments the dishes and gave diners a real flavour of events to come.
Jean Pierre has expressed that he would like to present another dinner for The Borrowdale Hotel, as well as Dauphine from domain Bichot in Burgundy and Miguel Torres junior from Spain and Chile also would like to host dinners .
It is also hoped to have some lunchtime tasting with a light meal; with maybe the wines of the Loire Valley and also an interesting tasting, matching types of wine with the different types of cheese produced in our region is planned.
