Christmas Eve 2011
If you haven’t taken advantage of our special terms,
arriving a day or two earlier, then your Christmas holiday
begins today. Check in to the hotel and settle in to your
warm, welcoming room before enjoying tea with scones
and cream relaxing by one of the roaring fires in our
lounges. Your evening commences with an invitation from
your host, the General Manager and his team, to a warm
winter Pimms and canapés reception, where you have
the opportunity to meet with friends old and new.
We’ll help you keep in the Christmas mood as you
make your way to the beautifully decorated Devonshire
Restaurant and adjoining Lounges to enjoy an exquisite
candlelit dinner which will be accompanied by traditional
Christmas carols played as you dine. After dinner, relax in
our lounges with coffee and petit fours. As the midnight
hour approaches, wrap up warm for an escorted trip to
St Andrew’s Church (just a short walk from the hotel)
for the wonderful service that is sure to remind you
of bygone Christmases. Return home to the George
Hotel for rum flavoured hot chocolate and toasted
marshmallows.
Christmas Day 2011
Add a little sparkle at the start of the day with a glass of
bucks fizz before a traditional hearty Cumbrian breakfast.
Enjoy a fun packed morning – there’s the excitement of
opening gifts from loved ones, or why not don your boots
for a brisk guided walk up Beacon Hill - the panoramic
views cannot fail to impress you. After your efforts it’s
time to meet in the lounges for champagne and canapés
whilst you make your choices from the sumptuous six
course Christmas Day Lunch menu which is served in the
magnificent Ballroom.
After a relaxing break you can join us later in the evening
for a ‘Taste of the Lakes and Fell’s Buffet’. It’s the perfect
opportunity for you to taste some traditional Cumbrian
specialities, prepared by our Head Chef and his team.
What better way to end the day than our infamous
Christmas quiz; prizes, lots of fun and trivia to test
everyone’s memory. Always great fun, it is a fabulously
entertaining evening to round off a very special day.
Boxing Day 2011
Time to brush off the cobwebs and explore the lovely
Lake District – but not until you have enjoyed a leisurely
Lakeland breakfast! There’s no need to worry about
where to eat next – we will provide you with a delicious
picnic to enjoy at your leisure – just when you need it.
Later in the afternoon, make your way to beautiful Lake
Ullswater where we have chartered a private steamer
for your personal enjoyment. Whilst cruising and taking in
the breathtaking scenery, enjoy a hot chocolate or mulled
wine with delicious festive mince pies. Returning to the
hotel you will be served tea and hot buttered crumpets
as you warm up by the roaring fire. In the evening, you
will be treated to a four course candlelit farewell dinner
served in the festive Ballroom.

We bid a fond farewell to guests who are leaving us today
and hope to welcome you back during 2012. You could
of course choose to stay a little longer and if you wish
to extend your break a couple more days you can take
advantage of our special ’stay a little longer’ rates
- Children sharing with parents 5 – 12 years £55.00 for 2 nights, £77.00 for 3 nights per child. Children sharing with parents 1 – 4 years £35.00 for 2 nights, £52.00 for 3 nights per child. Children sharing with parents under 1 FREE.
- All prices are per person, based on 2 people sharing a room and include all meals and entertainment as described.
- A non-refundable deposit of £150.00 per person is required to confirm a booking with the balance paid before 1st December 2011.
