A warm welcome awaits you in this idyllic setting for a traditional, festive celebration. Our famous hospitality complemented by tempting menus, crackling fires, comfortable bars and lounges will help you relax, unwind and enjoy a magical Christmas in the Lakes.
Whether you are with family or friends new and old, the atmosphere is always truly memorable, with dazzling decorations inside and outside the hotel, and trees glowing with twinkling lights to create the perfect Christmas that you will treasure for years.
Be welcomed by the delightful aroma of mulled wine to complement the scone cream tea we will be serving in our Lake View restaurant, for your enjoyment as you arrive at the hotel.
In the evening, join our General Manager and his friendly staff from 6.30pm for a sparkling cocktail and canapés in the bar, before proceeding to the candlelit Lake View restaurant for an exquisite Black-Tie Gala dinner prepared by our Head Chef and his team. During dinner there will be a visit from the Borrowdale carol singers with a medley of seasonal carols to get you into the festive spirit.
After dinner, join our musician in the lounge for a selection of soul, folk and festive favourites, following which we have arranged a magical torch-lit gathering for some crisp fresh air, where you will enjoy a glass of hot punch and toasted marshmallows. With only the light from our lanterns, the lake and surrounding mountains will make you feel as if you are in a winter wonderland.
Join us for a celebratory Bucks Fizz breakfast from 8am, during which a very special guest will pay a visit! The morning is then yours to enjoy at your leisure; exchanging gifts, taking a dip in the pool, a stroll to the cascading Lodore waterfall or taking part in the staff vs guest Table Foosball competition.
We hope you’re hungry, as our Head Chef and his team have prepared a magnificent 6 course Christmas luncheon with all the traditional trimmings and seasonal touches. After lunch, relax into a comfortable armchair in the lounge and listen to the Queen’s speech with a cup of tea and a slice of delicious homemade Christmas cake.
In the evening, if you still have space, a stunning ‘Cumbrian Lakes and Fells’ buffet will be served. With relaxation in mind it’s time for a bit of fun and to test your general knowledge with our ‘Quiz of the Year’.
Start the day with a hearty Cumbrian breakfast and then join us on the river bank for our charity duck race. At 10.45am we make our way down to the jetty for a cruise on the lake, with a warming cup of winter punch whilst on board the boat. A light buffet lunch will then be served in the garden suite from 12 noon. Once we have re-fuelled we will head off for a walk to a local beauty spot, the best way to see the beautiful Lake District scenery.
This evening you will walk down the staircase and in to Las Vegas - join us in the lounge bar for iconic cocktails from up and down the Sunset Strip, followed by a fabulous 4 course steak and lobster dinner including a buffet of amazing desserts to finish. Be wowed during dinner with close-up magic and sleight of hand, whilst our favourite caricaturist will be available to create a little memento of your Christmas at Lodore before moving through to the garden suite where you can try your hand at a little black jack and roulette at the casino tables, with the lucky winner taking home a magnum of champagne.
For those of our guests who leave us today, we bid you a fond farewell and trust you have enjoyed a fantastic Christmas with us. However, if you wish to extend your break by a few more days, you can take advantage of our ‘stay a little longer’ rates.

Christmas and New Year celebrations form such a special season at our hotels, and we are delighted to welcome many of our guests back year after year.
...just not enough words to describe our 4 days over Xmas. Room had amazing view, food was out of this world. This hotel has to be one of the very best for service, food and customer care. Thanks to everyone for all your hard work. Vivien, Jarrow
...to say the hotel pushed the boat out was an understatement everything was polished to perfection. The staff were genuine and worked tirelessly throughout a credit to them. We always love our stays at the hotel but this surpassed all previous visits.
...the hotel has a wonderfully unique balance of offering a 4 star service and yet making you feel as relaxed as you would be curled up in front of the fire in your own home. If you are looking for a classy traditionally furnished hotel, with professional service second to none and an outstanding dining experience then look further. Nicki, Cambridgeshire
