CHRISTMAS PROGRAMME 2009
Take a step back in time to that golden age of true hospitality, service and comfort. We create the complete festive atmosphere for you to share with family and friends both old and new. The hotel is adorned with traditional decorations which combined with our friendly staff and excellent food and drink will make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive.

Christmas Eve
Arrive at the hotel in the afternoon and be welcomed by the lovely aroma of winter Pimms and mince pies being served in the lounge.
In the evening we invite you to join us for the General Manager's welcoming party where you will be introduced to the senior staff at the Lodore Falls Hotel and a short talk about the forthcoming day’s
entertainment and activities. Following which we proceed to the candlelit lake view restaurant where an exquisite Gala Dinner will be prepared by our Head Chef and his team. In between courses you
will be entertained by our incredible table magician and have a visit from the Borrowdale Singers who will set a musical tone with a selection of seasonal carols. Black tie is requested for this evening.
And for those of you who would like a bit of fresh air after dinner, we have arranged a magical torchlight walk to the lakeside. Here we will have set up tables with hot punch and roasted marshmallows and with only the light from our lanterns and the fire, the lake and the surrounding mountains will soon make you feel as if you are in Winter Wonderland.

Christmas Day
After a hearty breakfast (eagerly awaited if the children have kept you awake since 5am!), Santa will be entertaining in his grotto, and the health club will also be a perfect place to spend a couple of energetic
hours to work up an appetite for lunch. Alternatively, a stroll to the cascading Lodore Waterfall in the back garden of the hotel is sure not only to prepare you for lunch but also to impress you.
The children are entertained in the health club with a Splash Party. Whilst you work on your appetite our Head Chef will be preparing a fabulous Christmas Luncheon with all the traditional trimmings and
seasonal touches. After lunch relax or collapse into a comfortable armchair in the lounge and listen to the Queen’s speech with a cup of tea and delicious homemade Christmas cake.
Later in true Lodore tradition it will be time for “Guess the Weight of the Cake” competition. Then it is out in the garden and up the fell for the exciting treasure hunt for the whole family.
This evening a light supper with emphasis on local specialities will be served during which you will be entertained and amazed by our Cartoonist, soon after the Lodore Falls Hotel Quiz of the Year
compared by the manager and his helpers will test your general knowledge.

Boxing Day
Start with a Cumbrian breakfast and then spend the rest of the day as you please. Perhaps you would like to join us on our guided launch trip around the lake, or if the weather does not allow for this, our guide has instead promised us an interesting talk about the local flora and fauna of the area. A light buffet lunch will be available in the Garden Suite, or if you prefer you can order a picnic and enjoy lunch amongst the hills.
Following lunch we will be heading off for a guided walk around some of the local fells, stout shoes and warm clothing are essential for this. We will be back in time for the children to enjoy an afternoon full of fun games with a professional entertainer and activities in the leisure club.
Soon it will be time to change and get ready for the magnificent Gala Buffet prepared by the Lodore Falls Hotel kitchen team. This is tradition at its best and not a single thing has been changed since 1955 when the buffet was first introduced to guests at Christmas. We are sure you will be impressed. Later on the band will be playing in the Garden Suite and no doubt you will soon be dancing the night away.

27th December
After another full Cumbrian breakfast it is time to say goodbye and head for home. We hope you will have enjoyed your stay and that we may welcome you back again during 2010. For those of you who
would like to extend the fun a bit longer, please contact Reception for our special “twixmas” rates for an extra day or two.

All prices are per person including meals and entertainment as described. A non-refundable deposit of £200.00 per person is required to confirm a booking with the balance paid on or before 1st December 2009.
