Beatrix Potter and the Borrowdale Hotel
Meandering a short distance down the Borrowdale valley is the Borrowdale Hotel, built in 1866 the same year that Miss Beatrix Potter was born.
Today, you can still enjoy the same level of traditional hospitality but since then, it has been transformed with a refurbishment remaining sympathetic to its character and allowing personality and charm to pervade – like the 41 original room bells that hang in the hall.
Have you planned your next break yet?
You really should take time to travel up this pretty valley, catching the views across to the Catbell mountain range made famous by the Tales of Miss Tiggywinkle. Beatrix Potter fell in love with it – and we are sure you will too.
Catch the launch around Derwentwater and walk up the Newlands valley to Littletown Farm – THE place that inspired Miss Potter to create the characters in the Tales of Miss Tiggywinkle
Stay at the Borrowdale Hotel and walk past the crystal clear streams that feed the lake and the native Herdwick sheep that graze the fields and fells next to the hotel.
