Choose from a Large Selection of Menus of the Highest
Quality
The cuisine at the Skiddaw Hotel is known for its high quality
and Head Chef, Brian Alston, is very particular with his menus
making sure the ingredients and produce are locally sourced
when possible. Lamb and beef are a popular choice at the Skiddaw
Hotel, as there is an abundance of locally produced quality
meat in the Lake District.
You can design your own menu from the a la carte section, or
you can choose one of the set menus, which have been carefully
put together by our Head Chef. Whatever you decide you can be
assured that on your wedding day, your guests will be impressed
with the food.

Choice of Function Suites
The new Greta Suite, which has recently been totally refurbished
and is ideal for the couple looking for a beautiful function
suite seating up to 90 guests. It has natural daylight through
large windows and is furnished and decorated to the highest
of standards in burgundy and golden colours. It features three
specially imported crystal chandeliers each with 1000 crystals
sparkling and highlighting the decorative ceiling. For an
evening function the Greta Suite can be changed into the most
impressive disco with a large dance floor and the latest technology
in LED lights and with its own carved mahogany bar featuring
the latest trendy drinks.
Alternatively, for smaller weddings of up to 30 guests the
more intimate Poets Room on the 1st floor of the hotel is
also available as is 31 The Square Restaurant seating up to
60 guests.
Civil Wedding Ceremonies
At the Skiddaw Hotel you can get married in 3 functions suites
seating up to 120 guests. The civil wedding ceremony is a
more informal way of getting married, when the registrar comes
to the hotel and performs the legal part of a civil ceremony
and family and friends gather to watch this special occasion.
The function suite can be decorated with flowers and your
favourite music can be played, so all your expectations of
a wonderful and memorable day are fulfilled. As we have several
years of experience in performing civil wedding ceremonies
at the Skiddaw Hotel we will be able to help you with any
questions you may have.
Accommodation for
your Guests
Most of the 40 ensuite rooms have been carefully refurbished
to the highest standard and offer the hallmark of a first
class hotel.
For that special touch you can upgrade to one of the Summit
or Four Poster Rooms, which have been tastefully and individually
designed and offer towelling robes, trouser presses, bottles
of sparkling water and a newspaper in the morning.
An 'Out of Season'
Wedding
The Lake District is beautiful in all the four seasons, but
in particular in the Autumn and Winter when the snow capped
mountains and the spectacular golden brown and orange colours
look amazing. Why not choose a wedding date during these times
and take advantage of some very special rates, or if you can
