What I have noticed recently and have been completely in awe of, is the up and coming trend of coloured wedding dresses. It is a spectacular way to add a splash of colour into your big day, whether it may be soft pastels or intense primaries. Looking to the catwalks and couture designers, steering away from the classic white and ivory seems to be the next fashionable trend for weddings which can be easily stylised for any wedding, large or small.

For summer weddings, a shorter midi dress in lemon or dusky pink is a fantastic way to subtly add your own splash to an already kaleidoscopic array of the bright colours of summer. Look towards the Delphine Manivet 2014 collection or David Fielden 2015 for inspiration on how to work this look, they both have classic styles with a modern twist. Of course, if you’re not wholly confident on having a completely coloured material for your dress, perhaps you could accent your outfit with a beautifully hued veil like Maggie Sottero matches her dresses with or vibrant floral detailing a la Pascal Chevalier.

There is no reason to be timid with the vibrancy of your dress, this is your day and your personal taste. Bring yourself forward with deep crimsons and show your passionate side with a look very much like any dress from a Zac Posen collection, or go completely vampish with a slightly eccentric veil and dress as seen in Lazaro’s 2014 collection. This is one for the daring but if you’re bold enough, you’ll be able to pull it off with ease.

Winter weddings are already a little different due to the colder months; many wear (faux) fur shrugs and shawls to keep them warm and add a fashionable touch. However, going one step further by having yourself wear the only colour in your all white wedding would be fabulous. The go to colours are usually purples and blues which Zuhair Murad uses extensively in many collections. This twinned with your guests dressed in white or very pale & simple outfits will be striking. Another great inspiration for winter wedding dresses is Ellie Saab, his constant use of intricate beading, Swarovski crystals and diamonds is completely beautiful and breath taking. Bringing his style to your wedding will give it a prestigious aura.

Why stop at the wedding dress? You and your groom could zazz up your wedding with matching coloured outfits, both Marc Wallace and Adam Waite design funky suits for your other half to look into. If perhaps a green suit is a little bonkers for him, try a matching bowtie, pocket square or shirt. Many high street shops have lovely wedding accessories for men which your fiancé can wear on your shared big day.

Your wedding day is all about having fun and bringing your style to the table. Don’t be scared, dare a little and you will have an amazing wedding day that is aesthetically amazing. Inject some colour!
