7 brilliant things to do on a rainy day in the Lake District

wet-weather

Just because there’s a la’al bit of rain outside doesn’t stop us from having fun in the Lake District. The Lake District is still wonderful on a rainy day, and certainly most people expect a little rain when they come to visit. Don’t let it put a dampener on your holiday, just be prepared for it and then if the sun is out it’s a bonus! There are plenty of rainy day activities in the Lake District, including going outside and getting wet, but here are our favourites that we recommend for you and your friends and family to ensure you’ve got plenty to do when you’re visiting the area.

STAY IN THE LAKES  →

‘There’s no such thing as bad weather, just wrong clothing’

Depending on how keen you are don’t let a bit of rain stop that walk. In the rain the scenery is just as impressive if not more dramatic sometimes. When we suggest this we obviously strongly advise common sense with regards to what and where you walk or climb. If however the routes are clear from danger and the weather is not severe, by all means put on your waterproofs and get out there.

Explore the culinary delights

If you are a foodie chances are you won’t mind the rain too much because it means you can with a guilt-free conscience sit and enjoying the view, that extra course, or last coffee before you head back outside. Our hotels offer fantastic afternoon teas and are great for indulging for any afternoon. See our website for serving times and prices.
