A real-life Christmas furry-tail!

It was a picture-pawfect day in our humble town of Keswick on Wednesday 18th December when we hosted our Christmas Dog Walk as part of Keswick Live Advent 2019.

Every day during December, a number of local businesses & organisations have hosted a selection of excellent Christmas events to create a festive buzz.

Following the festive activity held each day, an individual Keswick window has been lit up in an advent countdown to Christmas, and yesterday it was our turn to take the reins!

Happy howlidays!

The Christmas spirit was certainly high as 27 humans and 14 dogsdecked the howls’ when we pawed off from Main Street and made our way to Friars Crag & then on to Castle Head, where we took in the magnificent views of Derwentwater.

CHRISTMAS IN THE LAKES →

The leisurely stroll was a great way to spread Christmas cheer and get our pooch pals involved in the festive fun too – as we all know they’re just as big a member of the family as anyone!

An impressive number of dogs also came dressed in their finest festive attire, hoping to bag the prize of ‘Best Dressed Festive Dog’! The winner would receive a wonderful Christmas hamper donated by local pet store, Podgy Paws.

Afterwards, all two-legged guests were rewarded in true Christmas fashion with a steaming glass of mulled wine & mince pies at our 4* Inn on the Square hotel, where guests gathered round as we watched the 18th Christmas window light up.

Of course, all furry friends were provided with doggy treats too and a couple of pesky pups even tried to pinch a mince pie!

Daschund through the snow

The lucky dog that was acclaimed best dressed festive pup was Molly, a smiley cockapoo from Temple Sowerby. This contem-paw-rary style icon came dressed as a festive Christmas tree, who was rocking the tinsel. Her onesie Christmas costume even made her look like she had little winter booties on!

Wishing you a very furry Christmas

We were incredibly pleased with the turnout we had, welcoming furry guests and their owners from far and near. We had an impressive mix of local residents and visitors who had come to our little town just to experience the jolly Christmas atmosphere that the town is well-known for.

FESTIVE SPOT THE DIFFERENCE  →

One couple who joined us on the Christmas Dog Walk are actually getting married at our very own Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa in the not-too-distant future, as well as a couple and their canine who came all the way from Southport specifically for the event itself!

FESTIVE DINING  →

We were also joined by Professor Paws who kept all dogs and owners entertained throughout the walk. His dog is a Flat Coat Retriever called ‘Thunder‘ who has been featured in children’s books entitled ‘The Tales of Thunder‘.
