At the Inn on the Lake, we love to hear behind the scene wedding stories from our couples, from when they met to where they went on honeymoon and everything in between. On the 8th April last year, Tom and Emily said ‘I Do’ and now they are back to give our followers a sneak peek into their special day.
Emily and Tom first looked around the Inn on the Lake on a rainy day and even in terrible weather, they fell in love with our fabulous hotel. From the moment of booking they were hooked, and throughout the next 14 months our wedding co-ordinator Kerri was on hand to help plan and organise their special day.
The happy couple commented, “In our wildest dreams we could never have imagined a day as perfect as our wedding day. We felt so lucky to be surrounded by our family and friends and were truly overwhelmed by all the love we received.”
“On the day itself it couldn’t have run more smoothly. We were lucky enough that the weather was amazing so I could see the gazebo being set up while I got ready. Throughout the day all the staff were absolutely incredible. All our guests commented on how gorgeous the hotel was, how delicious the food was (both wedding breakfast and in the evening) and we didn’t need to worry about a thing.”
“Our centrepieces and other decorations looked beautiful and everything was moved through and set up in the Rambler’s Bar & Candleroom exactly as we had asked. The attention to detail, attitude of the staff and of course, the location itself added up to the perfect day and we couldn’t have asked for more from the hotel. They made the planning feel easy and the day was everything we could have ever wanted and more!”

HOW THEY MET:
It took Emily and Tom four years to get together from when a mutual friend first introduced them in their university days, to when they both started working together at the same law firm.
Tom planned to get down on one knee on a romantic holiday to Iceland, after a day at the Blue Lagoon, followed by a candlelit meal at Hotel Ranga, Tom proposed under the Northern lights, Emily of course said yes and now wears an 18ct white gold solitaire from Mappin and Webb.

Emily’s dress was Natalia by Sottero & Midgley and her veil belonged to her mother, by wearing this veil, Emily covered the something old and something borrowed, as the brides Mother had worn the same veil the day she married Emily’s Father.
Tom’s best man, Olivier, his users, Hitesh, Tom and James all wore a 3 piece Lydbury tailcoat and trousers supplied by Maria Modes Bridal & Menswear
Emily’s bridesmaids were school friends, Emma & Chantelle, and university friends, Abigail & Rebecca
Emily’s bouquet was pink and white avalanche roses and gypsophila, while the bridesmaids carried bouquets of pink avalanche roses and gypsophila.
The ceremony took place outside under the pretty gazebo, surrounded by 77 of the couples nearest and dearest, afterwards a champagne reception was enjoyed as an acoustic duo from Vibetown provided a little music. Guests then sat down for the wedding breakfast which consisted of;
Melon Dovetail Forest Fruit Compote
Mint Syrup & Fruit Coulis
Pan Fried Breast of Chicken
Smoked Bacon & Button Onion Cream
served with a selection of Seasonal Vegetables & Potatoes
Deep Filled Raspberry Cheesecake
After dinner, guests relaxed with freshly ground coffee and mints under the warm evening sunshine, some even played football on the lawns. The fun continued in to Rambler’s Bar & Candleroom for the evening reception, where a further 30 guests joined the bride and groom to party the night away and five piece band ‘Groovy Revolution’ provided the evening entertainment.
Centrepieces were vases of pink and white avalanche roses and gypsophila, placed on top of homemade wooden log slices with tea lights and table sprinkles.
Wooden heart shape place settings with each guest’s name engraved. Bags filled with sweet treats and featuring a bride and groom on a bicycle in honour of the bride and groom’s cycle trip in which they cycled over 100 miles from their home just outside Leeds to the Inn on the Lake a few months before the wedding.
Cupcakes in the same colours as the flowers were made by a family friend and the top tier cake was topped with fresh flowers and a cake topper by Victoria’s Stitches on Etsy.
