We’d like to give a big welcome back to Cath our restaurant manager, who after three and a half months away has now fully recovered from her hip operation. She is looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces, as well as new.
We like to promote from within and have recently made Boris assistant hotel manager. After 4 years at the hotel, Boris loves nothing better than getting out on the fells and then sharing his experiences with our guests. He has just been up Scafell Pike and celebrated in true Boris style, with a glass of red wine on the summit.
Head gardener, John Lee, is a born and bred Cumbrian and has tended to our beautiful garden for 15 years now. You might spot him elbow deep in soil mid-October as he plants 1,500 spring flowering bulbs.

National Seafood Week, 7th-14th October, you will find a delicious selection of fish available throughout the day such as cod, prawns, mackerel, tuna and much more. We’re not squidding, the Borrowdale is the plaice to be for fabulous fish!
Following our guest feedback we are bringing back the famous Flambé trolley. Enjoy the drama and theatre of having your dish prepared at your table with dishes such as crêpes Suzette or flambéed peaches.
