Celebrate Christmas or New Year in the Lakes

The elves at our 7 family owned Lake District Hotels have been busy making sure our festive season is wrapped to perfection. With crackling fires, lantern-lit walks and local carol singers, our three-night Christmas and New Year breaks are not to be missed.

With the festive calendar kicking off on Sunday 5th November with a mulled wine competition in Keswick, we’re already thinking about all things Christmas. The Christmas spirit starts when the festive dining opens in early November and continues until the Beauty and the Beast pantomime brings the season to a close in January.

We’re offering a unique and magical Christmas experience, with twinkling fairy lights, roaring fires and toasted marshmallows, you’ll find your very own winter wonderland at each hotel.

Whether you would prefer to spend your Christmas overlooking Derwentwater or Ullswater, or in the picturesque market towns of Keswick or Penrith, we’ve got a hotel to make your Christmas dreams come true.

From the beginning of November thousands of pretty lights and stunning traditional decorations in silvers and plums, reds and golds, adorn the hotels for Christmas and the most hospitable of staff are on hand to ensure your Christmas is a fairy-tale.

Escape to the newly refurbished Lodore Falls, where the air will be filled with the rich scent of the mulled wine and traditional cream tea awaiting you, or head to the Inn on the Square where you’ll receive a warm welcome at the hot chocolate bar, while those at the Borrowdale Hotel indulge in delicious mince pies and festive sweet treats.

The three-night Christmas extravaganza begins with your arrival on Christmas Eve, starting with a meal in one of our fabulous restaurants, followed by some festive activities. Each of our seven hotels will bring something different to your Christmas Eve, ensuring traditions are upheld and Christmas cheer is spread far and wide.

Bucks Fizz and a very special visitor are a must for Christmas morning before you open your presents, or take a stroll into the village or along the lake to admire the stunning Lakes scenery. Whatever your traditions are, Christmas morning is yours to enjoy, even if you simply choose to relax by the crackling fire. Each hotel will then go above and beyond to provide an unbeatable Christmas feast.

The Lodore Falls’ newly-refurbished function suite is the perfect setting for a traditional five-course Christmas lunch, while the Inn on the Square, which combines modern Scandinavian design with all things Cumbrian, are topping off Christmas Day with a six-course dinner in the AA Rosette award-winning Brossen Steakhouse. Wherever you stay, you’re in for a real treat – just make sure to save room to enjoy some Christmas cake while you watch the Queen’s speech.

Whichever hotel takes your fancy, rest assured you can enjoy your very own winter wonderland while relaxing, soaking up the Christmas atmosphere and undoubtedly eating far too much fabulous food. After all, that’s what the festive season is all about.

If you want to make the most of all things festive, we’re also offering four nights for the price of three this New Year. See in the New Year surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Lake District, and sit back and relax while the staff at our seven hotels make sure you enjoy every moment.
