As we’re in the midst of January, things have certainly calmed down at the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa, however the team spirit is just as jolly as it was over the festive period!

Now people have settled back into their usual routines, it seems that many of our 2019 Christmas or New Year guests are reflecting back on the memories they made at the hotel, as we are receiving an influx of excellent customer feedback.

This comes at the perfect time, as we’re currently getting our festive itinerary ready for this Christmas and New Year! So, we wanted to take this opportunity to also thank all our past guests for helping us shape our Christmas packages of the future.

After reading through most of your feedback, we were so proud to read many positive comments about our staff in particular. The team really do a great job working their magic to make Christmas special for all our guests, and the brilliant customer feedback really shows.

Fan favourite activities

As well as all of the fabulous, festive feasts on offer during both our Christmas and New Year’s breaks, we receive a range of excellent feedback on certain activities in particular which we wanted to reminisce about.

The impressive range of festivities on offer also didn’t go unnoticed by some of TV’s well-known soap characters either! In 2019, Emmerdale’s Lydia Hart (Karen Blick) highlighted in an interview that the variety of activities in the festive program were the main feature that attracted her and her family to the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa.

• Gin Afternoon Tea

People enjoyed getting the festivities off to a gin-credible start with the complimentary Gin Afternoon tea on arrival. This allowed our guests to sample some of the best local gins and the best of local produce! What a way to get the celebrations off to a great start.

• Christmas quiz

The Christmas quiz is always a guest highlight, which was actually won last year by Emmerdale actress, Karen Blick. Guests find this a great way to relax at the end of a busy, yet wonderous Christmas day.

• Guided walks

Many guests highlighted their fondness of the various guided walks that took place over period. This gave people who were unfamiliar with the area the chance to explore the beautiful scenery in a relaxed and collected manner. It also gave them the opportunity to mingle and form new friendships with team members and other guests.

• Christmas Day Lunch at Mizu

We received lots of excellent feedback on our Christmas Day lunch at Mizu, with many guests commenting on how wonderful it was to try an Asian twist on the much loved traditional Christmas roast with all the trimmings.

• Live music

We were over the moon to receive lots of amazing feedback on our live music alone! As well as perfectly entertaining all our guests, it really helped create a strong Christmas atmosphere throughout the hotel, and was nice to be greeted by festive music once we stepped foot inside.

• Champagne masterclass

Some of our guests were lucky enough to attend the champagne masterclass, in which we were joined by wine and champagne expert Richard. This gave many of our guests the option to try a selection of different sparkling wines and champagnes that certainly changed people’s opinions on what they thought they liked most!

• Sushi making demonstration

Another riveting demonstration held in the hotel was our sushi-making masterclass, expertly presented by sushi chef, Tony, in our stylish Mizu Pan-Asian Restaurant. In this friendly demonstration, our sushi-making expert showed guests how to make different types of Nigiri, Hosomaki, Uramaki and Futomaki – which of course they all got to try afterwards! Hotel resident Peter also had a go at rolling his own sushi.

• New Year’s Eve in Mizu

A highlight for both guests and staff was our New Year’s Eve celebrations in Mizu also. Guests were presented with a 6-course authentic Asian feast, which was followed by a glitzy ‘Hollywood Glamour Party’ in the Derwent Suite. Before dancing until midnight, this opportunity gave guests the chance to try exotic new flavours they never had before, in the beautiful Lake District of all places!
