- Candlelit Lakeshore walk
On Christmas Eve we will guide guests and their pooches down to the relaxing lakeshore of Derwentwater were dogs are able to run around, play and have a splash in the water. All masters will be given hot punch and toasted marshmallows; however, we will ensure that canine pals are given their fair share of complimentary biscuits too!
- Watch the charity duck race
Each boxing day we host a charity duck race in the river on the hotel grounds. It’s an exciting event for human and canine residents as we all gather at the river bank and watch in anticipation as all the ducks race down the river to the finish line. It’s the perfect opportunity for dogs to be sociable as we know so many of them are!
- Guided walk to a scenic location with doggy treats
Dogs are always having fun when walkies are involved, and you can join us on our guided walk to a surprise scenic location. Why Chilli wants to spend Christmas at the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa:
Chilli is our resident pooch at the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa – you may have even noticed her photo up on the wall in our doggie lounge on your recent visit! She’s no stranger to the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa at Christmas-time, so we decided to ask her why she thinks you should choose us for your Christmas break.
“For me, there’s no where more magical to spend Christmas than at the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa. All the friendly staff always make sure I’m well taken care of, whether it’s making sure there are dog towels available for me at reception to dry down after I’ve been for a swim in the nearby lake, or provide my master with an abundance of free doggie bags when I have to… well, you know.
What’s more, they even have a dog wash station located around the side of the building where I can wash off my muddy paws after running around the vast open spaces throughout the Borrowdale valley. You wouldn’t believe the number of dog walks available right from the doorstep of the hotel! All of which are clearly written down in the company’s Hike & Bike book which residents can purchase for just £3.50.
One of the nicest parts about my visits to the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa is that after I’ve returned from my long walks, instead of having to stay in my hotel room alone, I can actually dine with my masters in the hotel’s doggie lounge (by the way, have you seen that good-looking lab on the wall?). Not just dinner by the way, but I can also join them for breakfast AND lunch too which means I never have to be alone. They even have a doggie menu designed especially for me at the back of the lounge menu which includes FREE TREATS!
Not only is the Lodore a fantastic place to stay, but the surrounding area is always so welcoming to me and my friends. Trips out result in plenty of head strokes and ear tickles, there’s hardly anywhere I can’t go! Even the Keswick Launch lets me hop aboard so I can take in those magnificent Lake District views.
