Our beautiful Inn on the Lake hotel is taking their first steps in trying to save the planet by introducing more electric car charging stations to the Lake District.
At Lake District Hotels, we understand that climate change is a serious issue – especially considering we live in one of the most beautiful places in the whole world. Therefore, we are pleased to be gradually implementing this environmental initiative so our area can be enjoyed for generations.
Electric cars are a sustainable way to travel around, however there are limited electric charging stations in the Lake District, so it really is an honour that our hotel is able to help contribute to preventing climate change.
The installation also coincides with our incredible ground floor refurbishment, due to be full complete by March 2020.
The Inn on the Lake charging point is a BP Chargemaster Fastcharge 7kW unit.

- Where are the electric car charging stations located?
The electric charging station is located at the rear of the hotel, outside the Rambler’s Bar.
- Is there a fee to use them?
There is no charge at the hotel to use the electric charging portals, we only request that you pay us a visit for a drink while your car is charging.
- How long does it take to charge an electric car using them?
The time varies on the battery capacity of the car and amount of charge you desire. Depending on how much charge you want, this can take anywhere from 30 minutes for a boost charge up to 4 hours for a fully charged vehicle.
- Can residents and non-residents use them?
Anyone can use the electric charging stations, so long as you have a Polar Plus RFID card or the Polar Instant app.
- Can you pre-book an electric car charging station?
If you are a guest at the hotel, this can be arranged. Please call 017684 82444.
Supercharging the nation
When it comes to electric cars, the UK is somewhat behind compared to other countries across the globe. However, the reason for this is likely due to the accessibility of charging portals around the nation.
Luckily for us Brits (and more so for the environment), The Polar network who are the UK’s largest public EV charging network have been up and down the British Isles installing more accessible charging points for environmentally savvy drivers.
We’re very pleased that one of the locations in which these electric charging stations was installed is at our very own Inn on the Lake and they are now available for use!
