Lake District Hotels vs Keswick Cricket Club

Howzaaat! For a game of Cricket!

Lake District Hotels Ltd are in their second year of sponsorship of Keswick Cricket Club and each year look forward to their annual match against them, as with any business deals there needs to be a little bit of fun included. In 2014 Lake District Hotels stole the show by winning the game with the last run, so this year the pressure was really on to keep hold of the Cup trophy, and Keswick Cricket Club had come well prepared by fielding a much stronger team.

Over the past few weeks’ staff, general managers and directors from Lake District Hotels put in the hours of practise for the big match, everyone took it seriously and Neels Ferreira (General Manager at the Skiddaw Hotel) even purchased a brand new pair of cricket shoes especially for the occasion. The match took place on Thursday 23rd July at Fitz Park where staff gathered to watch and support their fellow work colleagues, play a proper game of cricket.

The match started with Keswick Cricket Club batting, scoring an impressive 133 runs. Keith Richardson (Chairman at Keswick Cricket Club) provided an accurate but somewhat humorous commentary throughout; highlighting certain players bowling skills as well as a few butter finger incidents.

Lake District Hotels innings started well, however they were defeated with a final score of 111 runs. Team spirit remained high and the two teams enjoyed pie & peas inside the club house, supplied by Keswick Cricket Club. After which an awards ceremony was carried out by Lake District Hotels to hand over the cup trophy and highlight a few of their top players. Team captain Philip Knight was awarded ‘Best Batsman’, Tom Cobley received ‘Best Bowler’ and wicket keeper John Miller got ‘Man of the Match’

Dani Hope commented, “It’s an absolute pleasure for Lake District Hotels to sponsor Keswick Cricket Club and each year we look forward to our annual match against them. We’ve all had a great time watching LDH v KCC and even though we didn’t win it as another good event. I’d like to say a big thank you to all of the staff that took part and to everyone that joined us to support our team!”
