Local residents from the Eden area hosted their 38th annual over 60’s lunch with us this week at Inn on the Lake. 90 guests enjoyed a 3 course Christmas lunch, accompanied by mince pies and delicious wine in the stunning AA rosette Lake View restaurant on Wednesday 5th December.
Jean Smith first started the lunch in 1980 when she introduced a swear box to raise funds in the Hikers Bar, now known as Ramblers Bar. Since then, local residents of the Eden area have raised money through their annual street party in July while Inn on the Lake have offered the lunches at a special rate for the cause.
With a fun raffle for all, the festivities were in full swing as Beaconside Primary School pupils from years 3, 4 and 5 entertained guests with traditional carols and contemporary Christmas hits. Jean awarded each student with a Christmas gift of their own as a special thank you treat!
Inn on the Lake’s General Manager, Gary Wilson, said “We are always proud to host this yearly event for our local residents and we hope they enjoyed their afternoon with us. On behalf of all the staff at Inn on the Lake, I would also like to thank the talented children of Beaconside Primary School who brought merriment and cheer to all our guests!”
The event is one part of Inn on the Lake’s busy Christmas schedule with a delicious festive dining menu, afternoons of live music and party nights throughout December.
