Introducing the new Inn on the Lake

For our beloved Inn on the Lake hotel, the ‘new year, new me’ regime starts early as an exciting ground floor refurbishment commences November 2019. The vision is to further enforce the feel of a relaxed, country retreat with exquisite touches of understated elegance scattered throughout.

UPDATE: the refurbishment will be complete by 9th March

INN ON THE LAKE →

Now we understand that the Inn on the Lake already screams cosy countryside hideaway with its idyllic lake-shore location in the peaceful village of Glenridding – it’s very hard to be more at one with nature if you tried. However, our ingenious interior design team have all the imagination and skills to further heighten its sophisticated demeanour, while simultaneously enhancing guest experience.

Not only will the hotel be a cosy haven for walkers and those in search of a countryside residence to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but the new Inn on the Lake refurbishment will produce an even more graceful wedding venue that you’ll cherish for years to come.

Orangery

THE ORANGERY IS NOW COMPLETE AND IS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

The inspiration for our new Orangery came from studying traditional orangeries of France and their original purpose which was to amuse its visitors. From our research, we understood that most guests visit the Orangery to indulge on our sumptuous Afternoon Tea, thus we have decided to adapt our Orangery to be more optimised for this.

We are doing so through the addition of attractive higher tables suited for this purpose. We intend to further enhance the suave atmosphere of the stunning Orangery by sanding and lacquering the oak floor to reinstate that ‘wow-factor’.

The centrepiece is going to take centre stage with a circular seating arrangement. The new colours and patterns that are each being introduced are a tasteful mix of modern botanist and trendy geometrics.

Lake View Restaurant

The colour palette for the Lake View Restaurant is synonymous to how it has always been, however we are moderately toning down the purple colours into more blushed tones. We are doing so by adding shades of understated, off-hue purple, so they still pop but have a sense of discreet sophistication.

LAKE VIEW RESTAURANT →

They blend perfectly with the neutral tones of ash, silver and cream to enhance the soothing yet stylish atmosphere of the room. The idea is for the design to be less colour specific for weddings, allowing brides/grooms to be more flexible with their wedding themes, while still maintaining the brand identity of the hotel.

You can also expect bespoke light fittings with silk shades that have been lined in metallic copper. The trendy light fittings further add to the elegance of the new restaurant, as well as the new chairs that are much more contemporary.

Lounge Bar

Forget all you already know about our traditional, cosy Lounge Bar and picture a contemporary cocktail bar with flairs of vintage charm. This bar is going to be transformed into one of the trendiest places to enjoy a drink in the Lake District and is the room with the biggest changes coming its way.

The floor will be fitted with sophisticated dark oak flooring, made with only the highest quality, local timber. The bar will also feature strong lighting designed to add character during the day and dazzle at night. With the new light fittings, the room will really come into its own at night.

CAPTURING YOUR WEDDING →

Lake View Lounges

The new colour design of the lounges is similar to that of the restaurant. The colour palette still maintains its classic feel with the addition of dusty rose and off-hue purple shades that are very on trend in boutique hotels across the globe.

SAMPLE LOUNGE MENU →

Despite plans for a fashionable new interior, the focus of the lounges is still on the incredible view down Ullswater that people visit the hotel for. Of course, we intend to further enhance the customer experience by maximising comfort with the addition of snug new furniture.

The lounges will be designed to appear even more welcoming than they already are, with the help of brighter lighting and a brand-new fireplace which is being fitted. Following the lounge refurb, we assure you there will be no finer place to soak up those Lake District views.

Reception area

The entrance foyer is going to have 1901 vintage maps lining the walls which tastefully depict the north of the country. In addition, the reception desk front will be covered in geometric, handmade glass tiles and are topped with locally sourced granite. These are both intended to highlight our northern patriotism.

AWARD-WORTHY SERVICE →

The patterns are soft, yet stylish, intended to subtly draw attention without being aggressive. The shades of the area will also be neutral, yet striking; further implementing our overarching theme of understated elegance.

You can also expect statement lighting in this area as well, instilling the feeling of sophistication as soon as guests step through our doors.
