After a turbulent year, Lake District Hotels reopened on 4th July 2020 following the national lockdown imposed on Britain in late March 2020.
Since then, all 6 of our hotels and restaurants have quickly adapted to this ‘new normal’ and have been doing all we can to keep our guests safe. We’re committed to doing what’s best for our guests, which is why we put your safety at the forefront of what we do.
To ensure the wellbeing of our guests and our employees during these times, we’ve implemented a range of new COVID-safe procedures for your peace of mind which we’ve highlighted below.
We’re committed to your safety…
Contactless check-in available
Lake District Hotels recently adopted Guestline’s new digital registration process, GuestStay. The new digital registration aims to reduce lengthy reception queues by allowing guests to check-in from the comfort of their own home before they arrive.
This not only aids with social distancing measures in the hotel, and reduces the time you need to spend at reception on arrival. If you do check-in beforehand, you will be given a welcome pack on arrival with all important details inside – including your room key.

Social distancing measures in place
The hotels are fully equipped with one-way systems in public areas to try and avoid guests crossing over onto each others paths. Please keep an eye out for one-way barriers and signs that will direct you appropriately around our establishments.
We are also operating an every-other-table policy in our bar areas, lounges and restaurants. This is to reduce the number of guests sitting near each other and out-of-service tables are marked appropriately with signs.
Online/single-use menus
To reduce the number of people handling our food and drinks menus, we have adopted a QR code that allows guests to scan the code with their smartphone cameras. This then directs the customers straight to our menu pages for you to browse. Free WIFI is fully available throughout all of our establishments and no password is required to connect.
For anyone who is not familiar with the QR technology, we have ‘single-use’ or wipe-able printed menus available. Please ask your server for a menu when you arrive.
Multiple sanitising stations installed
We have numerous hand-sanitising stations that have been installed around all of our hotels and restaurants. Most of these sanitising dispensers are automatic, so you do not need to press a button or touch them. Simply wave your hand underneath and they will dispense an appropriate amount of alcohol-based sanitiser.
If you notice that a sanitising dispenser needs refilled, please let a member of staff know. We do ask that you please sanitise your hands upon entering any of our establishments.

Table service in effect
As per the current government regulations, we are operating table service on food & drinks served across all of our hotels, bars and restaurants. This has been our company policy since reopening to reduce the number of people walking around the building at a given time and to avoid clusters in bar areas.
Table-service is in full operation both inside the hotels and on our outdoor seating areas.

Enhanced cleaning procedures in bedrooms and public areas
Since reopening the doors of our hotels back in summer to welcome guests, our housekeeping and cleaning departments have implemented advanced cleaning methods to safeguard all guests who enter the premises. Ozone generators are used in bedrooms after each guest and at nights in some public areas.

These thorough cleaning procedures are rigid and are strictly adhered to, so you can feel safe when you enter your room or walk around the building.
The Falls Spa is currently offering 2-hour spa slots throughout the day for residents of the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa only. After these 2-hour slots end, all guests are asked to vacate the facilities which are then closed for a deep clean.

Reduced numbers permitted in our restaurants and spa facilities
In order to follow social distancing measures and reduce unnecessary staff-customer contact, we have limited numbers permitted into our restaurants at any given time. Similarly, we are only allowing a select number of people in the thermal suite or relaxation room at The Falls Spa at any given time.
To avoid overcrowding and maintain a minimum of 1m distance between people, we are offering time slots for breakfast and dinner bookings. For this reason, we please ask all guests to turn up for their meals on time. With the current 10pm curfew, the last available booking for dinner is 8:30pm.
We strongly advise that you call the hotel reception to secure your preferred breakfast and/or dinner time once you have made your room booking.

Face coverings
It is now a legal requirement to wear a face covering when you move around inside our hotels. Our employees have been wearing face coverings since we reopened and are still more than happy to help if you have any questions or queries.

Card payments only
To avoid the handling of cash to ultimately minimize the spread of germs, we are only accepting card payments at this time.
Protective barriers
When it is necessary for customers to be face to face with staff, we have installed protective screens for both your safety and ours.

Guest COVID testimonials
Over the past few months, we have received some excellent customer feedback on how safe guests have felt in the comfort of our hotels.
With 2020 being a huge learning experience for everyone, it means a lot to receive such wonderful reviews from our guests, and we are massively appreciative of your feedback.
