On Wednesday 7th December, not one but two Lake District hotels welcomed in a group of elderly senior citizens for a discounted festive feast. Both the Skiddaw Hotel in the centre of Keswick and the Inn on the Lake hotel in Glenridding each hosted the lunches to spread some well deserved festive cheer to senior citizen in the local areas.
Over 70 guests visited each entered the warm atmosphere of each of the hotels and tucked into a 3-course Christmas dinner. The courses included soup to start, a traditional turkey roast for their main course and sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

At the Inn on the Lake, guests dined in the beautiful Lake View Restaurant where they were able to admire views across Ullswater lake on a bright and sunny day. At the Skiddaw Hotel guests enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the elegant Greta Suite which was adorned with twinkling lights and Christmas decorations.
These elderly festive lunches have been running annually for 45 years now and those aged 60+ are invited to be our guest.
At the Inn on the Lake, General Manager Gary Wilson personally collected 2 of the guests from their homes and brought them to the hotel in true Christmas spirit. He also delivered meals on wheels to 3 guests who were unable to make it to the hotel on the day. At the end of the lunch, 29 children from Patterdale School visited the hotel and sang Christmas carols to all the elderly guests which truly got everyone into the festive spirit.
