A powerful comeback

As we were awarded with such a prestigious award, we took the time to reflect back on how far we’ve come to get to this stage.

As many of you will know, the Lodore Falls Hotel gardens were completely devastated by the infamous Lake District flooding of December 2015. The hotel grounds were predominantly affected when nearby Watendlath Beck burst its banks.

At the time, plans were already in place for the new Falls Spa complex, restaurant and bedroom development, with the intention of allowing guests to get the most out of the hotel’s breathtaking location which overlooks Derwentwater and the Cat Bells mountain range.

The revolutionary £13 million development began way back in 2016, and was marked as complete by the official opening of the new spa gardens in September 2019.

“I am delighted that our design and implementation work has been recognised with this award. The landscape design is the result of a strong partnership with the architect and our client who had the commitment to develop the gardens to compliment the high-quality building. A great result for the whole team!” – Bruce Walker, Landscape Architect from Westwood Landscape Ltd
