This Easter, we have made it our mission to spread a bit of extra cheer to those who need it most this Easter by collecting chocolate Easter Eggs to donate to local good causes.
We have made the decision that our Keswick and Borrowdale based hotels will donate chocolate Easter Eggs to the residents and carers at Millfield Care Home in Keswick. This includes the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa, Borrowdale Hotel, Skiddaw Hotel, Inn on the Square and Kings Arms Hotel.
As part of the appeal, employees, locals and loyal guests are being encouraged to purchase an egg of your choice and deposit the chocolatey treat to any of the above hotel reception desks. Each hotel will store the sweet treats until Easter Sunday when all donated Easter Eggs will be delivered directly to the care home.
With over 40 residents and 40 care workers, the Millfield offers 24-hour residential care services to the elderly, those with Dementia and those with physical or mental disabilities.
We chose to collect Easter Eggs for the local care home in light of the hardships it has faced over the past 2 years throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. As well as bringing a smile to the residents of the Millfield Care Home, we aspire to collect enough chocolate Easter Eggs to also donate to the care home’s dedicated care workers as a means of saying thank you for your hard-work during these difficult times.
On the other side of the fells, the 4-star Inn on the Lake hotel which is located in Glenridding is conducting its own Easter Egg appeal. Operating in the same fashion, the lakeshore hotel will donate their cumulative Easter Egg collection to Jigsaw, Cumbria’s only Children’s Hospice.
Jigsaw provides one to one care for children and young adults with life limiting illnesses, as well as extending the care and support to their families. Any Easter Eggs donated to the Inn on the Lake will be gifted to the children of the hospice and their families.
To ensure the children and their families receive their chocolate eggs in time for Easter Sunday, the cut off for donating to the hotel reception desk is the 10th April.
Lake District Hotels’ Easter Egg appeal comes off the back of our recent Ukraine match-fundraising effort where we successfully raised over £11,000 for Ukrainian refugees with the help of loyal guests and employees.
