London’s West End comes to Cumbria!
London’s West End is famous for its fantastic range of theatres, tourist attractions, hotels and shopping. There’s always something happening, but why travel all that way when we have it all right here on our doorstep?
With the Lake District voted the adventure capital of the UK, with activities like the Via Ferrata, Go Ape, a new Ice Climbing centre and many more, there’s an array of tourist attractions to suit everyone’s taste. And while we may not have all the big high street names in our shops, you can escape the hustle and bustle to find pretty little market towns and quaint villages to explore their lovey mix of shops, grabbing yourself a bargain or two.
Then for an evening with a difference join the George Hotel in Penrith on Saturday 18th October, to see ‘Opera d’Amici’ coming all the way from London’s West End Theatres and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, to perform a selection of arias and duets from the most popular and well-loved Operas and Shows. Throughout the performance guests will be serenaded in between courses of a three course meal, specially created by Head Chef Jonathan Lander to suit the musical selection.
The George Hotel’s Head Chef researched the menu carefully to include an Italian twist to match the music. With a choice of three starters and desserts, and four main courses there is certainly plenty to choose from. Featuring on the menu are dishes such as; ‘Arancini’ wild mushroom risotto bon bons served with a napolitain sauce for starter, ‘Osso Bucco’ Traditional shin of veal stew in a rich tomato herb and saffron sauce to follow, with Warm Valpolicella Poached Pears served with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
Opera d’Amici will deliver a wide range of live popular classical vocals, with pieces from Les Miserables, Carmen, Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, Showboat, West Side Story, La traviata, Gianni Schicchi and many more…Who needs the big city when you have all of this!
