After 2 full weeks of outdoor dining in the Lake District and what seems like 2 full weeks of unbroken sunshine, guests returning to the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa have well and truly made the most of the sunshine where they have enjoyed a range of popular bar meals and light bites al fresco.
Following a year of lockdowns and the hospitality industry being closed, it comes as no surprise that many people headed out on the 12th April in search of something tasty to eat. Since we reopened the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa over 2 weeks ago, we’ve welcomed many guests onto our vast terraces and served up plenty of tasty treats!
When it comes to the most popular dishes, standing in at first place and towering high is ‘The Mighty Burger’ made up of 2 locally sourced beef patties, mature Lakeland cheddar, back bacon, garlic mayonnaise, panko onion rings plus more, all nicely accompanied by a portion of chunky chips. The runner up claiming the silver medal is ironically the hotel’s ‘Cider Battered Fish & Chips’ where fresh haddock is served in a beautiful, crispy and golden batter. This British staple is served alongside a portion of minty mushy peas, tartar sauce and comes with a wedge of lemon.
As well as these two popular dishes, the outdoor dining menu also includes additional dishes such as a vegan Fried ‘Not Chicken’ Burger, 8OZ Ribeye Steak, Loaded Chips, Sourdough Pizzas, Charcuterie Boards plus more. All dishes are available every day on the outdoor terraces where you can admire views across Skiddaw, Catbells and the hotel’s own landscaped gardens.
“Ever since outdoor dining in the Lake District resumed, there is an excellent atmosphere among the hotel staff who were all eager to get back to work again after the prolonged break and have enjoyed welcoming back so many familiar faces, with some visiting a few times a week.” – Marcell Cilliers, Deputy General Manager of the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa
Bookings are not essential, but if you would like to book a table outside at the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa, please give us a call on 017687 77285.
Outdoor dining has also been popular at the Inn on the Lake at Ullswater, where guests can tuck into a range of locally sourced and delicately prepared dishes while admiring immediate views of Ullswater lake. Menus slightly alter across our hotels, and the Inn have informed us that their most popular dish has also been the Fish & Chips, however their top spot customer-favourite dish is a Cajun Chicken Burger as opposed to its beefy equivalent at the Lodore.
If you can take anything away from this, it’s that Lake District Hotels know how to make a great burger, whatever the filling!
Outdoor dining and drinks is also available at the Kings Arms in Keswick.
