Our annual Summer Solstice guided walk to the ancient Castlerigg Stone Circle has steadily grown in popularity over the last 4 years, thanks to the help of Google. We first introduced the walk with the aim to offer our visitors the chance to see the Lake District in a new light, whilst celebrating the longest day of the year.
There’s great expectations and Easter excitement as spring babies are born at the Lake District Wildlife Park. So far, three sets of births are all from rare farm yard species – there are three new Golden Guernsey goat kids, Bagot kids and Tamworth piglets – all signalling the start of what is expected to be a busy season for births at the park. Easter is always an exciting time, heralding spring and the imminent arrival of new babies. The keepers have their fingers crossed for goslings to hatch, with the birth of baby lemurs and more goat kids and Zebu calves anticipated in the coming weeks.
As we wave goodbye to winter and welcome the warmer months with open arms, we have lots of exciting plans for the year ahead. Easter in the Lake District is a special occasion, Spring is in the air and there is plenty to see and do, with events and attractions to suit everyone. The magnificent Magnolia tree at the Borrowdale Hotel was planted when the hotel opened – that’s 151 years of blooms admired by hotel guests. It has established a following of loyal guests who come for lunch or afternoon tea in the conservatory, just to marvel at the blooms. Predicting when it blooms is difficult – it’s a little earlier this year as it’s already in bloom, come and see for yourself but don’t leave it too late!
Tucked away within the beautiful grounds of the Inn on the Lake in Glenridding, sits the stunning glass fronted extension to Rambler’s Bar, known as the Candleroom. After a successful first year, the Candleroom is about to celebrate its first birthday on Sunday 7th May, why don’t you come and join us?

The award-winning Inn on the Lake in Glenridding is the perfect setting for a glamorous fashion show, set on the shores of Lake Ullswater, with stunning views of Ullswater and the surrounding fells. 57 sophisticated, elegant ladies joined us today (Thursday 16th March) from various parts of the country, to attend our fashion show, hosted by Hilary from the fabulous Maureen Cookson Ltd.
