As part of a two year support project, which has seen Lake District Hotels raise over £8,500 towards the development of Keswick School’s food technology kitchen; recently saw one of our Sous Chefs host a pasta cookery demonstration at the school for a group of year 10 Hospitality and Catering students, aged 14 and 15.
The 2018 Tour of Britain is set to take place from the 2nd to 9th September, which will include a team time trial for the first time, as well as a summit finish on Whinlatter Pass in stages 5 and 6.
With the Summer holidays just around the corner, for many this means time off, daytime activities and long Summer nights spent out with friends. But if you’re a parent, it can mean children under your feet all day, an overflowing washing basket and shelling out for endless meals in cafés and restaurants. The school holidays can cost a small fortune; so, finding places to take the kids for free can be a lifesaver.
Earlier this year we launched a yearlong raffle, and we are pleased to announced the 1st, 2nd & 3rd prize winners for our first quarter draw. The raffle offers fabulous prizes from our seven hotels for each quarter, tickets have been available to purchase from our hotel receptions, as well as online and via Keswick School students, raising £1,788 which will go towards developing the food technology classroom at Keswick School.
We would like to welcome and introduce Davina Hassell, our new Spa Manager at The Falls Spa, which is due to open in Autumn 2018. Originally from Widnes, Davina has had the fortune of working in spas all over the world, from Dubai, Qatar and India, to name a few. Now positioned at the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa, we’ve asked Davina what she enjoys about working in a spa, why she decided to take up this new role and what’s she’s looking for when it comes to recruiting a team of Spa therapists. We were thrilled to be asked to be a part of the Lake District Foundation charity auction to raise funds for the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Path reinstatement. The evening was held at the Lodore Falls Hotel and raised over £4,000 from the 19 lots available on the night, as well as a £20 donation from each ticket sale.
For the fifth consecutive year, the four-star Inn on the Lake has played host to our popular Royal Ascot Ladies Race Day (Thursday 21st June), in aid of our charity of the year, Keswick School. Over 70 lovely ladies from across Cumbria and further afield attended the event, filling the hotel with fancy hats and glamorous dresses, many of which are now regular guests to this glitzy annual event.
Hundreds of people are expected to gather on Keswick’s Market Square this Friday evening, as the Mid-Summer Festival Rock Concert takes over the town. Starting at 6pm, locals and visitors to the area can watch as artists take to the stage to perform greatest hits by Rod Stewart, Ed Sheeran and more!
To show our appreciation towards Keswick in Bloom and their continued work that goes into maintaining the beauty of the town, Lake Districts Hotels Ltd. have donated £500 to this wonderful organisation. The donation was handed over to Tom Rennie, treasurer of Keswick in Bloom by Iain Grant, General Manager from Inn on the Square.
