Playing Cupid for Cumbria

It seems the single lifestyle in Britain is taking over, as the number of singletons continues to grow 10 times as fast as the overall population. With estimates drawn from Government studies showing that for the first time, married-couple households are now in the minority at 47%.

So with around 15 million single people in the UK, it’s estimated that half of them are actively looking for a serious relationship, a similar proportion are looking at online dating just for fun and flirtation, while the remaining singletons are more than happy on their own and enjoy their independence.

To help the singletons of Cumbria, the George Hotel in Penrith is playing cupid by hosting speed dating events; allowing individuals the chance to meet up to 10 potential dates in one afternoon. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet lots of fun and interesting people, face-to-face in a nice, relaxed environment.

With the first event taking place on Sunday 29th June at 3pm in Dappers Bar, the George Hotel. The event works by each individual receiving a scorecard or arrival, the dating then commences, allowing five minutes with each date, just enough time to decide if they want to ditch or date. At the end of the event if the scores match, both individuals will be able to swap contact details, after that who knows where it could lead.

So if you’re actively looking for a relationship, why not give it go!
