While the festivities may be over, the fun is just about to start for those of you who were lucky enough to get engaged this Christmas. Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa Sales Manager, Georgina talks you through the important steps towards planning your big day.
Let the world know
Call your parents, siblings and friends to let them know the great news. Don’t forget a Facebook status change!
Make the most of this joyous occasion with your loved ones. An engagement party is the perfect chance to have fun with your fiancé and family and celebrate the news. If you’re looking for the ideal spot to do this, we have the perfect function rooms to hold parties big and small.
Insure your ring
While we know it’s not the most exciting job, it’s important to make sure you’ve protected your ring in case of any accidents or loss!
Set a date
Think about what time of year you want to get married. Have you set your heart on a summer soiree or a winter wonderland? While you don’t want to rush into any big decisions, many venues get booked up quickly for peak dates, so you may have to compromise on the date or month or wait until the following year.
Are you hoping for an intimate ceremony or a large celebration with friends and extended family? It is a good idea to start drafting up a list of confirmed guests you couldn’t celebrate without. Rough numbers will help determine the size of venue you need. We offer packages for intimate ceremonies and larger celebrations, with something to suit everyone.
While no one wants to talk about money, it’s important to discuss what budget you will work to. Are you paying for the wedding yourself, do you need time to save? By setting an agreed budget early on, you can plan exactly what areas you wish you spend and those were you plan to save.
You can’t finalise a date until you have found your perfect wedding venue. Look through Bridal magazines and websites or attend wedding fairs. We offer wedding tours for you and your partner and for a limited time if you pre-book, quote ‘Cream tea offer’ and you’ll receive a complimentary cream tea on your visit.
Decide if you wish to get married in a Church ceremony or at a venue licensed for civil ceremonies. Civil ceremonies are becoming increasingly popular and mean you can have your wedding and reception at the same venue, with the added bonus that guests won’t need to travel in between. We have a license for weddings both inside and out and our Garden Gazebo makes for the perfect backdrop to your wedding.
Now for the fun bit! It’s time to get creative (and finally make use of that Pinterest board) Choosing colour schemes, floral arrangements, dress choice and the finishing touches will help to make your special day unique and personal.
Decide between you and your partner how many bridesmaids and groomsmen you will have. Will your niece be the flower girl? We even accommodate dogs in ceremonies if you wish for your four legged friend to be a part of your special day!
Once your venue is booked and the date is decided, you need to think about suppliers. Couples usually start by sourcing; photography, entertainment, flowers and cake. Your wedding venue will most likely have recommended suppliers– we have a list of wonderful suppliers we regularly work with and know how brilliant they are so we can guarantee excellent service on your special day.
Gather your girls and plan your pre-wedding spa day at the newly opened Falls Spa. Indulge in a relaxing treatment, refresh yourself in our stand out thermal suite and catch up over a glass of bubbles in the champagne bar.
