A fresh feel at Inn on the Lake: Beautifully refurbished Bedrooms and Hallways

We are happy to share that our latest refurbishment at Inn on the Lake is complete. Costing just under half a million pounds, the renovation has beautifully transformed six of our bedrooms, in addition to the 14 bedrooms redecorated over the past two years, as well as the first and second-floor landings and corridors.

Whether you’re a returning guest or planning your first visit, you’ll notice the enhanced elegance throughout our award-winning hotel.

A refined welcome: Revitalised landings

At Inn on the Lake, we believe that true luxury lies in the details. That’s why every aspect of your experience — from the opulence of your room to the quiet elegance of the landings — has been thoughtfully designed. Yes, even our corridors have been given a refresh to ensure they reflect the same standard of comfort and beauty found throughout the rest of the hotel.

We’ve kept a palette of calming, natural tones that echo the fells and woodlands just beyond our doors. These warm, natural hues create a welcoming and peaceful atmosphere, gently guiding you from one beautiful space to another.

While the colour scheme reflects the landscape, we’ve also made sure to preserve the sense of grandeur Inn on the Lake is known for. Elegant archways frame your path, adding depth and sophistication to the walk through the corridors. It’s a subtle nod to classic architecture, reimagined with a fresh, contemporary twist.

Whether you’re stepping out of your room for breakfast or returning after a day exploring Glenridding, we want every moment to feel thoughtfully curated and unmistakably Inn on the Lake.

Corridors with a view: Celebrating local landscapes through art

Wanting to be authentic to the stunning Lake District setting in which Inn on the Lake sits, Kit and Dani, Directors of Lake District Hotels, thoughtfully selected artwork that reflects the natural charm of the surroundings. It creates a stunning gallery of prints, worthy of a lingering look.

We are incredibly grateful to Tim Fisher, owner of Northern Lights Gallery, as the pieces are reproductions of limited edition prints from his contemporary art gallery in KeswickHis support has brought an added layer of warmth and local character to our newly refurbished spaces.

The talented artists behind the creations are: Hilary Roper, Philippa Headley, Simon Whitfield, Kevin Southgate, Dorothy Ramsay and Ian Davenport.

It’s fascinating how, despite their diverse styles, techniques and interpretations, the collection is unified by a shared appreciation for the beauty and atmosphere of the Lake District.

We think you’ll agree that the art provides the perfect finishing touch to our corridors, welcoming you into your Lake District getaway.

Framing the Fells and Lakes: Refreshed bedrooms

As part of the recent refurbishment, four Lake View Rooms have been renovated. To make your stay truly unique, we created bespoke wallpaper, designed specifically to reflect the landscapes just beyond your window.

The signature wallpaper adds a focal point and seamlessly continues the neutral palette of the landings into the rooms, complemented by carefully chosen pops of colour.

We also invested in custom-designed chairs, crafted to envelop you in comfort. Each room features soft, ambient lighting that sets a calming mood, perfect for unwinding after a day exploring the Lake District.

To complete your night’s stay, we use locally sourced mattresses to ensure that every night is the epitome of luxury and support. This is not just any memory foam mattress; the Sealy mattress is designed to deliver lasting comfort by alleviating pressure points and ensuring a deep level of cosiness for a restful night’s sleep.

Our pillows and duvets are made from recycled plastics, and we’ve used sustainable fabrics wherever possible throughout our plush furnishings. Handpicked linens add layers of luxury, creating a true home-away-from-home feel.

Our bathrooms have also been elevated to the same high standard, with spacious rainfall showers and a refreshed contemporary look.

Of course, the highlight remains your very own picture-perfect view of Lake Ullswater — a breathtaking backdrop that makes every morning feel extraordinary.

We have also given two of our Fell View rooms a thoughtful update, enhancing the bright and airy feel to ensure you feel refreshed and recharged. Featuring the same Sealy mattresses, sustainable fabrics, and luxury finishing touches, we’ve ensured all our guests feel truly cared for.

Large windows perfectly frame views of the magnificent Helvellyn mountain range, bringing the rugged beauty of the Lake District right into your room.

This refurbishment is more than just a design update — it’s an extension of our commitment to creating an immersive Lake District experience.
