This summer, Inn on the Lake truly came to life. Our calendar was brimming with events that brought together our cherished guests, local community, and new faces who’ve discovered the magic of our setting for the first time.
Why this summer mattered
This season wasn’t just about events; it was about people coming together, reconnecting with loved ones, and finding joy in the little things. We were so grateful for a summer that was filled with good food, live music, warm nights, and the beauty of our natural surroundings.
Royal Ascot Ladies Day
This summer was particularly important as it saw the return of Lake District Hotels’ infamous Royal Ascot Ladies Day. We brought the glamour of Ascot to Ullswater in true style — more dazzling and elegant than ever before.
Guests sipped on Pimm’s in the sunshine on the terrace, soaking up the relaxed yet refined atmosphere. Our Head Chef, Tim, prepared a three-course meal fit for royalty. The afternoon was brought to life by the exceptional Glen Anderson, whose live performance had everyone dancing and enjoying every moment.
The excitement soared as the races were broadcast live, with guests fully embracing the spirit of the day by placing their fun-money bets. With fabulous prizes up for grabs for the top fun-money winner, the competition remained friendly — but delightfully fierce.
We chose to donate all profits from the event to a truly remarkable cause — Patterdale Mountain Rescue. Supporting their vital work is incredibly important to us and to the wider community. Due to everyone’s incredible generosity and enthusiasm for the Charity Raffle, we raised a whopping £1710.00.
Bubbles, BBQ & Bingo
What an evening to remember! The fizz was flowing, and the BBQ was sizzling — all set against the stunning backdrop of Ullswater, we truly couldn’t have asked for a better evening.
Guests kicked things off with a fun-filled round of bingo, where fabulous prizes were up for grabs. The sense of community was unmistakable — a perfect blend of excitement and light-hearted rivalry.
Sophie McPherson returned to the stage for another captivating set, setting the mood perfectly as we fired up the BBQ! From Jamaican-style pork ribs to Moroccan-spiced sea bream fillet, guests indulged in a delicious spread bursting with global flavours. With perfectly grilled meats, fresh seasonal salads, and flavour-packed sides, it was a true celebration of summer dining.
Tapas on Terrace
The sun was shining, glasses were full of crisp white sangria, and the atmosphere was nothing short of electric.
Guests soaked up the summer rays while enjoying our Head Chef’s mouth-watering selection of tapas — bursting with seasonal flavour and flair.
The soundtrack to the day came courtesy of the sensational Johnny Dynamic, whose smooth vocals and soulful saxophone created the perfect vibe by the lake. From laid-back grooves to upbeat favourites, his performance had everyone on their feet — guests and staff alike, dancing and laughing together. We absolutely loved sharing the sunshine, delicious food, uplifting music, and fantastic company with you all.
