At The Skiddaw Hotel, our Dining Club has delivered an unforgettable year of foodie experiences, bringing together guests, locals, and passionate food lovers for a series of unique events in the heart of Keswick.

From themed tasting evenings and seasonal menus to chef-led creations and one-off culinary celebrations, 2025 has offered a fantastic line-up of memorable Dining Club experiences.

A Spirited Evening: A Journey with Pennington Spirits

In May, we collaborated with our local friends at Pennington Spirits as we hosted a ‘Spirited Evening: A Journey with Pennington Spirits’. The night brought a celebration of local flavours, community, and craftsmanship, where every bite and sip tells a Cumbrian story.

Head Chef, Bobby Fillingham, carefully curated a four-course menu, including delights like smoked duck breast glazed with honeycomb gin liqueur.

We welcomed Matt from Pennington’s to talk to our Dining Club (and bring some of everyone’s favourite tipple). He shared the stories behind each spirit, giving guests a behind-the-scenes look at traditional distilling techniques. It was so great to see everyone getting involved with lots of Q&As. 

Game, Set, Dine: A Taste Of Wimbledon

We served up a truly ace dining experience in July with our Grand Slam Menu! From savoury pistachio scones to a refreshing cucumber and mint soup, followed by herb-crusted lamb rump, Centre Court Salmon with Jersey Royals & English Garden Peas, and a Wimbledon-worthy strawberry dessert, it was an evening of culinary champions.

Guests also embraced the competitive spirit of Wimbledon with Tennis Trivia, well-deserved prizes, and fabulous themed cocktails!

Cruising the Med: A Culinary Voyage

We set sail in September for a flavour-filled evening, bringing the sun-soaked charm of the Mediterranean to the heart of Keswick.

Inspired by Mediterranean cruises and Head Chef Bobby’s years working along the Med’s glittering coastline, the evening’s 7-course menu blended bold, seasonal ingredients, coastal classics, and a touch of rustic elegance. 

A big thank you to Paul, Zoe and Evie, who joined us from Cockermouth Travel to share insider tips and stories from their most sought-after Mediterranean tours – from tucked-away Greek islands to the stylish stretches of the Italian Riviera. 

A Feast Of Shadows

To celebrate Halloween, we hosted ‘A Feast of Shadows’ – a seven-course dining experience served by candlelight, filled with gothic charm, rich seasonal flavours, and just the right touch of the supernatural.

Between courses, a mischievous local storyteller captivated guests with spine-tingling tales and chilling Cumbrian folklore, transporting everyone into the eerie heart of the Lake District.

Our guests’ fantastic costumes brought the evening to life, and Bobby’s incredibly creative dishes made it a feast to remember!

A Scandinavian Christmas Dinner

This November, we started to get into the festive spirit with our Scandinavian Christmas Dinner. It was a fantastic evening filled with warming gløgg and plenty of yuletide cheer.

Bobby and his team loved bringing a taste of Scandinavia to life — from the creamy ris à la mande to the rich andesteg, velvety jordskokkesuppe, and those delicious små kager to finish.

Dani, our director and half a Dane, shared stories of Christmas in Denmark and how the Danes celebrate the most hygge day of the year – we had such a lovely evening. Skål to each of you for creating such a warm and joyful atmosphere! We hope you left feeling merry, full, and maybe even a little wiser on those Nordic traditions.
