The annual Keswick Christmas Lights Switch-On is a much-loved community event marking the start of the festive season in the town and will take place on Wednesday 18 November 2026.

Organised by Keswick Town Council, the celebrations take place in the heart of Keswick, in front of the Moot Hall and surrounded by some of our town-centre hotels, including Inn on the Square, Kings Arms Hotel and Skiddaw Hotel. Crowds gather in the Market Square to enjoy the lights, music and festive atmosphere as Keswick officially welcomes Christmas.

In the weeks leading up to the big switch-on, our hotels in the heart of Keswick are already aglow with festive lights and decorations, helping to bring a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the town centre. To share in the community spirit, we even turn our lights off and back on again during the official switch-on, joining in the celebration as Keswick shines brightly for the season ahead.
