Summer Solstice at Castlerigg Stone Circle

Did you know?

Castlerigg Stone Circle is one of the finest in the Lake District, commanding a superb 360 degree view over Skiddaw, Blencathra and Lonscale Fell. Consisting of 38 stones all of variable sizes and shapes, with some standing over 5 feet tall.

With all of its beauty, its no wonder why so many people descend on Castlerigg Stone Circle every year for the Summer Solstice. This year Lake District Hotels are planning a special celebration… join us to greet the sunrise and enjoy a hot breakfast, listen to a druid’s summer solstice ritual, followed by a short talk about The Castlerigg Stone Circle and what the ritual means to a pagan…

Afterwards walk off your breakfast with our recommended walking route… take in the stunning scenery with a stroll from the Stone Circle to Lake Derwentwater before returning to Keswick to enjoy the rest of your day (map available from reception upon request).
